Default Cold air intakes(again)

I just red the previous thread about CAI, but did not find what I was looking for. I am ready to order my intake, but I m still debating as to which of the following to go with. K&N seems to be highly rated and priced at around 380$, on the other hand S&B intake is 100$ cheaper but is it in any way inferior to K&N??? Also there is black wing, and AFE 5r.
I personally do not mind paying an extra 100 if it is worth it, however I would hate to pay extra just for the name (K&N)
Is there any difference between k&n and other intakes? which one would you recommend? Did you really feel a difference over stock after you installed your aftermarket intake???
Thank you

Vararam is the only true CAI out there. It takes fresh outside air into the motor, while all the others take in fresh air and a bunch of hot air from the engine compartment, Vararam is the only way to go. And yes the gains are great at 50 mph and up!

The only thing i dont like about the VR is that the couplers are red, my vette is yellow and I have nothing red on my car, My buddies with red vettes are going to give me some crap about it. We have this red vette yellow vette war all the time. I need to find yellow or black couplers, anyone know where these exist?

For the best performance gains, the Vararam is the one to get. But it is a more difficult installation too. I'm running the Blackwing on mine and like it - easy to install and still much better than the stock setup.

Callaway Honker, expensive but very well made, takes in outside air.

Vararam is a very good deal and a true CAI -- but some complain about the shoddy quality. Not that it's there for looks anyway.

Despite what some have written, Callaway Honker is also a true CAI and looks and fits beautifully, but very pricy. Mine came with it and, compared with others I test drove with the stock intake, you can feel a difference.

I really believe the K&N, blank wing, etc. are very marginal for performance but folks think they look cool.

Unless you track your car it really doesn't matter anyway. You will never feel the difference between most of them on the street. In fact, some like the vararam with its longer duct than others, will most likely REDUCE performance at low RPM. Just get the one that looks best to you because you won't feel the difference.

I have the Vararam, its a little harder to install but intakes just an intake. I would just go with a K&N or Hallitech if I had to again. You wont really feel a difference and this way you don't have to worry about water getting sucked up into your manifold

Default Breathless Performance

Bought Mine From Breathless Performance
VORTEX RAMMER COLD AIR SYSTEM 1997-2004
THE VORTEX RAMMER COLD AIR SYSTEM 97-03 VETTE

BREATHLESS PERFORMANCE PRODUCTS- This vortex rammer kit replaces the restrictive stock air box assembly. Look closely at the filter and note that this is not the K&N filter that everyone sells. This revolutionary air cleaner contains an internal vortex velocity stack. It obtains cool, pressurized air from the radiator cavity through your modified shroud. Our specially designed scoop then forces it into our rammer sealed box, where in turn, it directly injects cold air into your intake. (Lowering Manifold Air Temperature by almost 20 Degrees)

Remember, cold air means more power. Our Dyno results have already shown up to 22HP and 21FT/LBS of torque. Remember, this is without the benefit of the pressurized air that is created at high speeds (which means there will be more h.p. at speeds over 35 MPH. 1/4 mile tests showed 5 MPH and .35 (with the scoop attached).

The kits are available in CLEAR, BLACK and CARBON FIBER.

(Clear finish provides a visual access to your Filter and Radiator for service inspection.)

Item 100-218(C) 97-2000 Clear Box Item 100-2001(C) 01-2004 Clear Box

All depends on what you're looking for. If you're gonna race it Vararam. I have the chrome BBK because I like the way it looks.

I disagree with 'not feeling a difference'. I installed a vararam/powerduct and there was a very noticeable difference. Much better throttle response from idle all the way up. VR is the only mod.

I'm only the 2nd owner of my 02 6 speed. The previous owner was very meticulous in how he cared for the car and what he did to it. So that said he had fitted a ram air induction set up by Corvette Concepts of Sarasota. It's a very neat looking intake with a K & N filter -

Hope this helps.

unless you are going to be racing, dont waste your money on the vararam. i bought a duel cone off ebay for $60.00. it looks great, did notice alittle better throttle response and it also passed the grease test with flying colors....jmo

p.s dont forget the front hood seal to keep water out!!!
