Hi, I was reading somebody's thread way back 3-4 days ago and remember somebody saying that the mean age of this forum members(and possibly all corvette owners in U.S are over 50 y.o.) just wanted to see if that is really the case, I wonder if there is any body close to my age group ( I'm 28).
Considering the cost of a low milage vette these day I think the age bracket has really come down. Not including those whoses parents purchased it for them at the age of 18. 24 by the way.

I find it a little strange, cause a used c5 now can be purchased for a relatively low price(I got mine 01 with 70000 miles for 15000) and that is even cheaper than what I paid 6 months ago for my 06 350Z of course the milege was better), Even the most economical subcompacts are in the 14-15000 range brand new, however people get the impression that I am wealthy, or its my parents car.
I'm 32 now, bought my 02 Z06 when I was 31. I'd say the average age of those buying used C5s now is pretty low. Just not very expensive yet still an awesome car. People thinking you are "rich" or it is your dad's car is probably due to the fact that your average Joe can't tell most 97+ Vettes apart. A well kept C5 is still a badass ride. I'd had several people say they were shocked when finding out my Z is an 02...
I can definitely see the average age of a buyer for a NEW Vette being up over 50. $50k is a lot of coin, I couldn't swing a new one.
Jack, you're still a youngster yourself - some of us are 60+ and rising! But we still love Vettes (I bought my first one at 25...I think)
I'm with you. I turn 64 next Sunday; I bought my first Vette at 24, a 66 big block 427/425 roadster. This in my forth one. People may say that 64 is old, but it is really how you feel about age. I can slam the gears of my MN6 real well and probably better than some of the younger generation drivers. In many case, I was driving a Vette before some of the forum members were even born, so the age question can be a little annoying.

Wish mine would have been a big block '66 - mine was a '72 small block -
You're right age is in your mind! and I don't feel like 60's (yet anyway)
Bought my first vette a 1980, I was 26, didn't buy the next one until 24 years later, a '92 and now have the '04. Most of us 50'ish and older guys just want to enjoy the ride, that's why we buy the best sports car there is...a corvette.
Got my first Vette when I was 24. It was a 66 convertible, later traded for a 71 Convertible. Got my 3rd Vette at 55, 93 Coupe and my 4th at 58, 01 Coupe. Still have the 93 and 01 and I'm 61 now.
Just turned 46.... I came into Vette ownership in a slightly different way. I was actually shopping for a late 70s Trans Am or 79 Z-28 just like I drove in high school and college - but my wife said she would refuse to be seen in either of those if I bought one. For some reason, the Vette got the "classy" thumbs up by her to get as an extra car. I'm glad it worked out that way because there is no comparison in terms of performance, build quality and reliability.
