Default Question about MOD value

I hope its ok to post this here.

I have someone who wants to trade me my vette for another. Im not sure how to come up with a good trade value for my car. I have alot of $ invested in it but I want to get into something newer. Im not sure if I should just sell it and save up money, trade, or de-mod.. Thanks

To me, the general rule for mod pricing is no more than half the price of the parts and ZERO of the labor cost. What is the other guy offering?

that is a good start.

Mods do not add much but sure take away value.

since most of your mods seem to be in hard parts (engine suspension, etc) it would be hard to back them out. i would think that depending on what was being offered (as trade bait) a fair determination of value on both sides shouldn't be too difficult to determine and you go from there as far as negotiation.

Kinda funny that everyone can't wait to mod their car but are always looking for a fully stock one when purchasing.

I think it's because the problem with mods, especially ones as extensive as the OP, is that repairs are tough. The GM manual won't help you much, and the only garage that will touch it (or should) is the one that did the work.

Worst case scenario -De-MOD it sell the mods -

You will get more $$$ this way with a LS2 402 NA, than with all the extra's - unless you have someone who knows your Vette and appreciates it for what it is and has and is willing to pay what it is actually worth

Thanks,Matt

Matt is spot on here, you need to demod or keep your Vette or you will take a beating on the sell or trade

Unfortunatly its only worth what someone will pay I think I might kick around the idea of selling it and negotiating what mods stay on it to work on a price.

Thanks for the input guys.
