Go the Jay Leno's Garage website and being a very big Corvette fan.....he stated that Corvettes are the most enhanced vehicles in the world next to Harleys. Putting a little lipstick on does the lady well.

Corvette owners have personalized their vehicles for a loooong time...whatever suits you should be the only thing that counts. You can always save the items that you have replaced to bring it back down to original stock if you decide to sell it...and who knows, a new prospective buyer may have your same tastes in mind...
I dont have any plans to sell mine so some "personalization" is a good thing, I mean do we want to all look the same?
(As a side issue when a group of Harley guys get together they all look similar/the same.....where does the individualism come in???)
Corvettes never look the same, kinda like their owners, that is the joy of it all. The joys of all the "goodies" available to us all

Some mods could affect the value, especially those that are not easily removed. But if you add things that any new owner could easily take off and return to stock, I wouldn't worry about adding the parts. It is a lot of fun making the car more personalized.
When modding a car I always stick to the saying "less is more", try to keep it clean, im not saying dont personalize but some people just go overboard. There is absolutely no need for any vette to have EVERY available chrome accessory bolted to it, when people start having chrome letters/tail covers/vents/etc.... its starts looking tacky REAL quick.

I own two C5's....one is a black C5 convertible that is like so many others out there. The other is a '98 Pace Car.
The black car has had a number of appearance and performance mods performed on the car, the Pace Car has had VERY limited mods done, Corsa Pace Car exhaust and X-pipe, a Blackwing and a Hurst shifter.
The Pace Car is a limited production low mileage car that I intend to keep as close to stock as possible. The Black car is my toy - my weekend warrior and my car that I show (though I do show and occasionally drive the Pace Car).
I view stock cars (other than a special interest, potential collectible) as blank canvases. There is nothing wrong with making your car your own, by adding mods that appeal to you. Truth be told - there were almost a 1/4 million C5's made over a seven year model run. If these cars ever reach any kind of collector status - I doubt if it will be in my lifetime. I say modify it, drive it, enjoy it - because that's what these cars were meant to be. Don't concern yourself about resell value, because it is a depreciating asset - not an investment.

Wow!!! That Dragon Vette is badass. I have had that same idea in my head for a long time. Just been trying to gather all stuff to get it done. Now I just have to decide which vette I want to do it too.

As you can see from some of the other pics in this thread, there are plenty of things that can ruin the value of a Corvette. Adding something to your car should be of personal taste. Just make sure what you do can be returned to factory just in case you decide to sell and a potential buyer doesn't like the mod. Besides, if you remove the mod and return to stock, you can resell the aftermarket item and pocket the extra cash OR put the mod on the replacement Vette. Providing it will interchange.
I wouldn't worry too much about mods affecting the value only you are either trying to re sell the vehicle or turn some sort of profit off of it. I suppose it also depends on what you are thinking of doing too...

I have my own personal taste in mods. To each his own as to what mods, if any at all. The car I own will be more than likley be the one and only vette I ever own. Thus, I want it to become my own creation literally. Nothing too extreme but with good taste. My motto: less is more. Although I have more I wish to do, I do bounce ideas off of other forum members and friends before I pull the trigger. Besides, most of the mods I have added can be pulled off and resold here on the fourm. Do what you want and enjoy. Either way, to mod or not to mod, it's your ride and enjoy, but beware if you do decide to break the seal on mods, be prepared. It will never end.
Mods do not enhance the value or saleability of the car. It seems buyers are happy when buying a stock car and sellers seem to promote that fact as well.
I think some mods are neutral and others are a detriment when it comes to value. I personally wouldn't buy a car with forced induction or nitrous. On the other hand, I wouldn't care if it had a Corsa exhaust or X-pipe but I would not pay more for it if it did.
If I were buying a preowned vette and saw some add on's I would think that the previous owner cared about the car as opposed to one left bone stock which would indicate they only drove it and didn't really care much.
I own both a 01 C5 and a 01 Harley Bagger. Harley is blown with alky kit and 218rwhp and custom paint. Valued at over 70,000.00 Best of show at Datona With my little garage paint job.
I also show my C5 with a 2nd place out of 318 in all corvetts show. I have been to bike and corvette shows with thousands of vehicles to chose from, And Harleys are NOT at all the same for shure!!! As for Corvettes there mabey 10 out of a thousand that stand out in a crowd those 10 are badass. I love my C5 and would not give it up, But your dead wrong about Harleys.
My Full dresser that runs 11.60s is not like most harleys. I cant count how many times I have made a C5 look bad. But I perfer to show up stangs on a closed track of course

Just don't over do it. Leave a bunch of that stuff in the catalog.
Good Point
I recently picked up a C-5 and first thing I realized was that people are making some serious dough off of these C-5 accessories. A few look tasteful on the car but many look like they should be in the dollar mod. aisle at Auto Zone purchased by people pimpin-out there Hyundai. It's jaw-dropping what they want for a piece of china-chromed screen that should only cost $5 or $10 max or a tail light louver that looks chinsy ad cheesy.
