I am running stock Z06 wheels and my OEM goodyears are getting bald. Was wondering what tires I should get with a budget of $700.00 (poor college student). Any advice would be much appreciated!
I just had the NT-05 installed on mine today. So far so good. I like them much better than the wide oval that came off. I post back in few days when I time to break them in good. They ran me around $900.
wide ovals if just a driver and no tracking of any type for car, outstanding wear and price is good. nitto envos also might be a good choice. good luck
I go with Toyo Proxes T1-R. They are a tad over your limit but you can put a good amount of miles on them. A full set would probably be a little under $1k after tax and such.

I bought a set of Toyo T1-R's just over a year ago. I really like the Toyo's. I would recommend.
Wide Ovals. Good life, and I cut high 1.7-low 1.8 60fts, bone stock. They do the job for a stock car.
Really? I touch the throttle with my wide ovals and I am bouncing off the revlimiter before i can shift. I think they are terrible....Maybe I am not smooth enough. How do you get them to hook up? Do you run them soft. I am planning on a set MT Et Streets for the back when my track opens up in May.

I used to be able to get traction in 1st gear (on the street) with my Wide Ovals, but once they were about half-way worn 1st gear traction became a joke. It really depends on the type of road surface.
I will agree that the Wide Ovals are great for daily driving... I'm about to replace mine after nearly 35,000 miles. Even now, as worn as they are, they still perform pretty well in the rain. They've become pretty loud now though... I'd say about as loud as they Goodyears were, but it's been over 2 years since I replaced the Goodyears.
CaddyJimz06,
I'm afraid you'll be hard pressed to find anything in that price range. The General Exclaim UHP's are probably your cheapest bet, and from what I've been hearing they should be a pretty decent tire. But I still believe they'll be more than your current budget...

I agree, it depends on the tread on the back of the tires.
Yes, Some people don't like to, but I drop my street tire pressure to 18 and do a small burnout. I've got 305/35/18 MT ET streets on the stock wheels for when I go to the track now. I ran the stock ones and dediced I didn't want to burn them up.

You're not smooth enough. I can tell by how you test-drove it.....
Vredesteins are in the price range you desire and have gotten good reviews for those on the forum who've gotten them. I think it was Tom's Tires (or wheels?) that has them.
Some of the tires mentioned do not come in stock Z06 sizes. I would look at Firestone Wide Ovals also. They are probably the best value and give you the most miles in your price range. (And they come in stock Z06 sizes)
Then finish school, get that good job, and you can buy new "good" tires every year
How about BF Goodrich G-force tires? I need a tire that's for a daily driver, all stock, that are good in the rain and reasonable in price. I have G-force and they seem to perform well. If you get on the gas they won't hold but if you do that in 1st or 2nd gear with a Z will any stock, everyday driver, tire really hold?
