Not sure what to get. Prefer to not have to drill holes in the vette, but is that possible? Is there anything decent for less than $150?

I have a Pioneer camera with my Z3. It was just about $150 I think.

The interface box just barely clears under the passenger seat motor. The video cable will pass out through the vent behind the driver side rear wheelwell. The camera attached easily to the license light mount. On a do-over I'd drill holes for the video feed and the GPS antenna and seal with grommets so the flap cover on the vent would work (don't know if it would make any actual difference.)

FYI, it is cool but I seldom ever actually use it.

I put a Kenwood camera in with Kenwood dd HU last Dec. in the wife's C5. The cube form factor did not make it friendly to mount in the CHMSL location as others have done so I had to get creative.

After some discussion, the wife and I finally agreed on "The Eye of God" approach.

I measured where I wanted it and transferred that dimension set to the license plate holder. I measured the camera head and cut a hole in the holder just large enough that the camera head was very snug.





I modified the bracket that came with the camera by lengthening the slots and bending the end of the legs 90 degrees. I found the appropriate hardware for the bracket and marked and drilled holes for its screws and pre-threaded the license holder holes with the bracket screws.





Here's a trial fit of the camera bracket on the license holder.


I ran the camera and reverse trigger wire from the rear hatch area to the inside of the rear fascia, hooked the trigger wire to the reverse lamp, dremeled a little clearance for the camera bracket in the fascia material behind the license plate area and mounted the holder and plate back in place.

Here it is all put back together.

I didn't want to drill any holes etc. so I stuck my Kenwood Reverse camera just above the rear license plate assembly, works like a charm.

I have the BOYO VTL420 and used 3M double sided tape to attach it. I paid under $100 for it.

 

I bought the Boyo VLT375 and love it. I believe it was @$180. Check out their web site as they have other models as well.
