Default Need a opinion.

I was looking at a 03 ZO6 at a local used vette dealer. It was in nice shape except that the front rotors were very worn and the rear weren't much better. With 22k mi. it seemed like very excessive wear. Also the pads seemed to have just hit the center of the rotor unlike a C-5 vert sitting next door where the whole rotor was clean. Could this have been a good indication of it being raced?

No... My ex girlfriends brakes went bad fast because she waits until the last second to brake. Same with some other people I know. They don't beat on their cars, but they do brake hard way too much.

This is likely not a big deal. Drive the car and if it doesn't rattle, if the engine runs smooth, and if the transmission shifts smooth without any grinding, it's likely a good car. Get some brakes rotors and pads from Gene Culley and call it day. Cheap stuff to replace and it sounds like you DO want this car.

I killed my stock rotors

Killed the GM Performance drilled ones too

Now I'm only Baer Eradispeeds and they still look almost new.

Don't judge the car by easily replaced items like brake rotors.

Listen for sounds from the drivetrain and suspension. Look underneath the rocker panels and front bumper for scrapes and damage. Tire cost. Under oil cap, battery age, driver's seat leather.

Learn how to pull the codes from the dash and have a print out of what codes mean with you.

Thanks to a C-5 forum member I have the info and have done the codes on other C-5's. But the price was a little high and the driver seat was cracked also. By the time I called someone already had money on it. They wanted close $30k and are not known to deal that well so I would want the car in the shape I would keep it. I'm going to Strictly Corvette in AC this Saturday so I'll check what guys have for sale there. Hopefully I find some prospects there. How do you folks feel about cars with engine mods?

I've got a very nice yellow 03-Z06 for sale. 2nd owner , 23K miles in excellent condition. And less than 30K. PM me if you are interested.

And the interior is pristine!! Car is bone stock, which is good IMO.
