Well, I'm in the tire market again(rear tires). I'm looking for the STICKIEST tires for the street. But its got to be able to handle the curves. My C5Z make about 450RWHP plus some spray. For track days I'll be on slicks, so I'm not concerned about track performance. Its a Friday and Saturday night ride, so not many miles and I'm not worried about mileage wear on the tire. The review on the NT05R looks promising but the sizes are crappy. The traction control system could be a pain with the tires sizes avaliable. So, any input that could help me pull the trigger is appreciated. Thanks
Just use the NT05 275 up front and everything will be fine with the stock size rims. I check with another forum member a few times that did the calculations for me. I am running the NT05 with no problems from the active handling system. I can only speak for the NT05, but I am very happy with these tires.
The NTO5R is a drag radial, not made for the curves. I agree with the guy above, R888's or RA1's from toyo would do you good they are nice and sticky. Also heard great things about the nitto 555rII. these are all sticky tires with a stiff sidewall.
If NT05R is my choice at the rear, what tire size combinations(front to rear) are you guys running. I worried about the traction control system. I'm pretty sure 5% is all the error allowed in the system.
I'm going to look up the R888's recomended to me. Are they as sticky as the NT05R is suppost to be??
The NT05R if it is as good as it is supposed to be will hook better from a dead stop, however the r888 will work just as good from a roll. I like the r888 or ra1 over the nt05r or any drag radial for that matter on a corvette because the car is made to handle and putting on drag radials absolutely kills handling. Plus drag radials are very very scary in the rain.
I'm a big fan of the 555RIIs. I've gone thru 2 sets on my procharged z06 and they hold the power pretty good once warmed up. they also don't do too bad in the rain if you get caught in a down pour. I have the R888's on there now and while I haven't gotten them up to temp on the road course (yet) they don't seem to have the same sticky street manors the 555RIIs did.
