I have an 03 with 8600 miles and the orginal run flats on it. I hate them and its time to go get something else. I am looking for ideas on what to get. I would like something sticky and quiet. If there is such a thing
thanks J
I went to Goodyear F1 D3's. LOVE THEM! No more back end kicking out on bumps. They are quiet too and sticky You will like them. Not to mention, they perform great in the rain.

I have the GY GS-D3's on one Vette and Michellin PS2's on the other.
The GY is a better rain tire
I can't tell in the dry, I give the edge to the Michellin but they are on my Vert with tunnel plate, C6 Z06 shocks and Hotchkiss sway bars versus my wife's vert that is all stock.
The Michellin is a bit quieter
I bought Hankook Ventus V12's about 2 months ago, as soon as the roads in Ohio were clear of salt. I have had my 1999 C5 for 5 months approx, it had 25K miles and still had the original run flats. They were so noisy you would have sworn you had a wheel bearing issue. The car is like night and day as far as noise goes, very quiet now, even on concrete highways. As far as performance, I haven't ridden it that hard (yet), still getting familiar with it. I now carry a puncture kit, compressor, fix a flat, small jack, pucks, and a few other tools in a neat and small black canvass bag in the center rear console. I am happy with the change. Too early to comment about tire wear.
Went from the runflats to the GY GS-D3's. Loved the D3's but looking at almost $1,600 for a set installed. Went to the Kumho MX's after I wore out the D3's at just above 1/2 the price of the D3's. The Kumhos have a 220 threadwear rating which are not too far from the R ratings found on DOT race tires. The D3's if I remember right was 280. I don't find the Kumho's any less efficient in the rain although I have never really pushed it under wet conditions on the street and would never do so unless on an autocross course or roadcourse. I love driving to an autocross and not doing anything except maybe to pump up the tires a couple of pounds or so, then driving home on them as well as driving to work the next day.
I have a set of BFG Super Sports, it's an all-season tire, very smooth and quiet, fine performace for me. Not a sexy tread pattern like the BFG KDW which are summer tires which I like as well. The BFG KDW are one of the oldest tires out there but still higly rated at the top of many lists. Both are made in USA as are some Michelins which are also
thought of highly. Good luck on your search.
I just got the Hankook v12 EVO K110's for front only, as that's all I needed for now. I like them, noise is lower, the feel is better. My car had new GY RF on back when I got it. I may not wait for the rears to wear down, but for now I'm low budget. The pricing is great on Hankooks as well. I just checked where I got them and they are up $4, but I have a contact if you want to PM me.
Like others I got a tire kit and an air pump. Don't fear the NON runflats, I think you would be happy with Hankooks.
I have a 98 Convertible that is just used for club runs and show and tell. I wanted a good, quiet year around tire with good wear for the buck. Checked prices, checked reviews and bought Hankook V12. Would buy them again.
My .02
I just put on a set of Hankook V 12's all around in the stock size. Immediate better ride and less road noise over the stock Goodyear EMT's. Used to trigger the traction control easily with the old runflats, but the Hankooks just bite and go. Pretty happy to be out the door at Discount tire for $652 for the set after a $50 factory rebate from Hankook too. I declined the replacement certs for additional cost because I seasonally store my ride. Haven't decided on any plug kit or spare yet.
