Close. Mag Red II was introduced midyear on the 2000 models. March 17, 2000 build on mine with Mag Red II.

Also, Mag Red II was carried into 2005 for the first year of the C6.

...........mostly. I think the carmine red looks a tad better, but I'm a lil' prejudice.

Hmm ... mine's a 2000. I don't have the original window sticker. Now I'm wondering if mine is I or II. How can you tell?

Gratuitous pic of my sexy red car:

The title for mine just came today so I'll be getting my plates next week.
Tell me, would mind if you had a matching set of plates in Colorado?

I bought my car in July 09. I pulled up to the previous owners house and when he took the cover off and the sun hit it. I almost cried.
:crazy

I honestly thing the Mag Red I is the best Mag Red color. Mag Red II looks a little darker than I like. Every time I drive it people ask me what year is your car and if the paint was custom. All I say is 99 straight from the factory.

I also have a 99 Mag Red I Coupe. Mag Red II looks lighter to me compared to Mag Red I. Have no idea what Light Carmine Red looks like compared to my car.

For all Mag Red owners who have never clayed their cars, do it ...it's worth the effort and the color pops even more.

I've parked my Mag Red II next to Mag Red I. To my eye, Mag Red I has a slightly "brownish" cast to it whereas Mag Red II has more of a "cherry" cast.

I clay bared mine last fall right after I bought it. Wow! That's all I can say about the difference. I've waxed it a couple of times since then and will do so once more before cruise nights.

Go Mag Red!

What is the process of Clay bared your car. Do you clay bared and then wax immediately after? I just waxed minds last weekend but I can see small spots all over my hood.

Try Zaino Z-PC with a PC-DA buffer using an orange pad.

It will create a glass like finish.

Clay bar is just one step in the process, it cleans the finish before polish application. You have to be really careful when claying the finish so as not to have any contamination. Otherwise, you can invoke unwanted scratches.

Oh I'm sort of partial to Magnetic Red Metallic with Tint Clear.

Not meaning to hijack this thread, however where did you get this plate frame/cover? It fits the Corvette reverse lights perfectly with no gap that standard, buy over the counter, frames often have.

Back to topic...When I went out shopping for my 2004 C5 in July of 2004 (after seeing the C6 and deciding I would rather get a C5), Mag Red II with black interior was my color combo of choice. I found one, however the dealer was a total jerk and I didn't want to do business with him. I regretted my decision for a little while since I never found another one remotely close to my home and since the model run was done, there was no ordering option. That's when I saw my Medium Spiral Gray Metallic with black interior under showroom lights. It knocked my socks off, however if that same dealer would have had the Mag Red II with black interior, that would have been a very tough decision!

The license frame came with the car. I don't know if it was factory stock. It was originally black plastic and I had it painted when doing the other body mods. I have always liked the sutlty of it, almost dissappears completly. Thanks.
