Thanks for the info Evil. I was always changing mine around 20% because I assumed that I'd be on the safe side. Good to hear that I have a buffer even at 0%.

How does the formula handle track days? I have my first one on Saturday. Are they treated just like anything else?

ET, congrats on reaching 43 years Very rare these days
We are at 37 years and counting.
I guess that means we dislike change as well
Also glad to see you back as a regular poster sharing your vast and unique knowledge of the C5.

Hi there E.T.,,,good to see you back!! I caught one of your posts shortly after I got my C5,,and have followed my OLM as well.It just seemed to make sense to me!! I did remember that you said the algorithm was up dated,,but forgot it was in 2000. This leads me to a question,,,When in the 2000 model year was the change made?? Mine is a very early 2000,,and seems to be more like a 99 than 2000!! From what I've read 2000's were supposed to have the Air Bag cut off button,,,and mine does not. If I recall correctly mine was built 9/99. Any idea if it has the old or new program??

Thanks Dave,

Thanks for sharing the info E.T.
I don't own a C5 yet but I had planned on disregarding the OLM, I like clean fresh oil. Your point about possibly going to long, due to operating conditions, brought home to me how the OLM can really help someone that likes to mantain their vehicles.

I'll be monitering and using the meter when I find my 'vette.

Now if I could only program this into my Cummins Dodge...

If your post is gone/modified...........it's cause you broke the personal attack rules.
Take it off line or better yet, be the bigger person and let it roll off your back. The rule is simple:
Personal attacks/hostility toward others

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
The Forum should be a place where we treat one another with civility so that it remains a fun and friendly place to hang around with other Corvette enthusiasts. Hostility to others is rude and inappropriate.

Personal attacks cannot be tolerated. Attack ideas, not fellow Forum members.

PM me if ya got questions.............DO NOT POST IT IN A THREAD,also a rule.
Back to the oil discussion..........of which mine comes up about every 5,000 miles ( Once a year for me) as I drive all mine hard

I'm glad that E-T let us know the details about the Oil Life Meter. I was changing mine at around 25% as I had traveled from 6-7,000 miles on the oil and the vast majority of my driving is in stop and go traffic on the highway which has to be harsh.

Now that I know I can go lower on the OLM, I'll trust that I can go into the single digits and even to zero/0 and still be ok.

I'm at 64% now.

No, thank YOU Bill. I didn't know all the parameters you guys used for the calculations but knew it was a lot more than I guessed, pretty cool. Now I won't feel guilty when I let it count all the down. No chance of me ever hitting the 1 year rule as I drive the crud out of mine year round.
