Default How many threads left with longer bolts?

How many threads are you guys leaving that bought longer bolts for the rear to get it pretty low? Like maybe an inch from tire to wheel arch on stock wheels. And are you using any threadlock? Doing mine this weekend so just curious. Thanks

Depends what length bolt. 6 1/2" bolt will have about 1/2" thread showing. Use an elastic stop nut. With that nut you wouldn't need thread locker. Once you get the ride height you want and the car settles, if there is enough threads left, screw anothe elastic stop nut up against the other, just to be double safe. Good luck.

Typical aftermarket bolts are 7", which will give you about 2" drop with 3 threads showing. Watch it though, you'll have no shocks travel left when you're done, you'll be riding on the bumpstops of the shock. Best to buy 6" bolts from a Hardware store (grade 8) with the nylon lock nut as the previous poster stated. It will give you gradual lowering ability from the stock bolts up to 1.5" drop (which even 1.5" rides on the bumpstops)

then you got 7" bolts. You'll soon enough crank them down to max threads showing when your back teeth rattle out of their sockets

btw, 3 threads to start, you will find one side will need more to be the same on both sides. These cars are not exact- threads vs. height from side to side
