How many of you don't garage (or don't have garages) your c5?
I am possibly going to relocate to an area where I might not be able to have a garage for my c5 anymore. I have various anti-theft devices and such for my car, but was wondering how many of you don't garage your c5s and what your experiences are?

So much depends on the location - some areas just don't have any problems - others someone will mess with a Smart car. If you have to leave it outside, just be sure you park it in a well lit area, always keep it locked, keep any valuables out of sight and be sure you are covered on your insurance.

Between a 99 I had then a 2000, neither were garaged. No room.
This happened once
Have no idea how he got in so quick. The car WAS locked.
.
Then This Happend once too!
.
On the white 99, I admit that after giving the car a full bath, detail, wax, I was so tired, I forgot to lock it.. Nonetheless, wonder how many times someone tried and didn't get in.
Both bad stories had good outcomes. BOTH were caught. The Blue one was a neighbor if you can believe it.. He is a mental health care professional! He was ID'd by the unusual combination of the white tennis shoes and black socks... Go back and look again if you missed it! That and the jacket all matched up when I saw him wandering around the alley one afternoon a few days later. Cops called - he confessed and got most of my stuff back!
And, my home is NOT in some section 8 housing project! Houses start $300's up to 500k. Good area, great schools!

i have a garage but it seems a mouse owns it for the moment and how do i know this you ask? well let me tell you how, cause i found a nice mouse nest in my riding mower and on my fast 90 intake when i opened the hood at a car show to show someone my real flame fuel rail covers !!!!!! So i have 1 but until the lil critter that is staking claim to it is terminated the car will sit in the driveway

My Vette is protected by the garage, an alarm system, Maggie the Boxer and SIG Sauer...

Luckily I live in a friendly area, houses are close to each other but the area is great. So being said I don't have a garage, but its no problem! Just cover it, wash and wax it a lot!

thanks for the input guys. I was thinking possibly looking into finding a garage to rent out that would be close to where I move, depending on living arrangements. If the neighborhood is good enough, leaving it outside probably won't be a big deal but if it ends up being sketch, I'll probably have to look into renting a garage.

I am blessed by the opportunity to garage my vehicles. Only you can answer the question about the opportunity and value of protecting and/or garaging your prized possession. I would only advise that you make a careful "situational analysis and evaluation" of all conditons you are dealing with, to arrive at a reasoned decision.

No garage for my DD...that'd be nice. Oh well...all is good except for the extra cleaning needed after it rains.
I think a good cover may be next on the list.

All of my new Corvettes dating back to 1972 were kept outside, uncovered at the same apartment complex I lived at for 25 years. The elements took such a toll on my last Red 1985 Corvette, that I finally said no more until I get a house with a garage. Ten years later I built a house and 4 years later bought my C5.
Usually after 2-3 years the paint and interiors were really showing major pain. It is amazing what a garage does for a Corvette. I have had my 2001 black C5 for 10 years and it honestly looks better than the day I picked it up from the Dealership. As much as I love this car, if I ever found myself out of a home for some reason, I would sell it ASAP.
I live in a good neighborhood and the kids are pretty good too, but they are young and if I leave the car out front for even 5 minutes, here comes some little girl in a bicycle and one of them already slammed into the rear bumper as they are still learning how to stay upright. The Corvette draws those kids like a magnet - as soon as they see me pull up, they all make a mad dash up the street on their bicycles to surround it. Then there is the neighborhood cat with the 6" long claws - 'nuff said.
So to answer your question, I would never own another Corvette without a garage - even then I cannot take it to many places like movie theaters, malls, etc.

And make sure to tell them that you regularly speed.
And you've never been in an accident, but DAMN you've close a BUNCH of times.
Tell 'em you sometimes do Everclear shots while driving....
