I ordered a new plenum cover from RPI last week. I don't have it yet but I'm looking to see how dificult the install will be. Has anyone installed one, it's the one piece chrome plenum cover. Thanks in advance for any help. Bill
you must remove the fuel rail, there are 4 bolts, 2- 10mm bolts on each side of manifold, no need to remove it all the way, just lift it high enough so that the injectors are out of the manifold or high enough for you to be able to work the cover into place.
once in place, carefully re install the fuel rails, the injectors need to be easily re installed, do not put too much pressure when pushing back into their holes in the manifold, tighten bolts back up and you're done.
shouldn't take more than 30 minutes if you're going slow and carefully.
Make sure and check your injector lower o-rings once you pull the rail and injectors. It is easy to tear one, or distort one when you pull them. If all appear to be ok then use a small amount of white lithium grease on each one before install and they will easily push right back in place. DO NOT re-install them dry. if one is torn or deformed then get them from NAPA, Chevy thinks they are gold and most other parts store will tell you they are dealer only items.
Might want to put a little oil around each injector before you push them back in...made it a lot easier when I did my quicksilver plenum cover. Ordered the 2 piece one this time, the fun part will be getting the old one off!
For anyone that has the 2 piece plenum cover, does the 2 piece fit snug together where you can't tell that they are 2 pieces. I'm looking for easy here, not messing with removing stuff, my luck sucks with removal and re-install!
Should I just buy 8 new O rings and just replace them? Put some lithium grease on them to be safe? Cost of the O rings isn't an issue, I have to go to NAPA tomorrow to get an oil filter. I just want to make sure the car runs and doesn't leak gas.

My o-rings were fine when I removed my injectors. You can buy new ones though if it makes you feel better or just in case any are bad.
I just used a little engine oil on each one when I re-installed the injectors.
It also suggests you drain out the fuel in the fuel rails via the schrader valve prior to removing the injectors and fuel rails.
Overall the install was very easy. Took about 30 minutes and I had never done it before.

I have a two piece plenum cover on my car. It goes in easy, but you can notice the break between the two pieces. The cover is designed where the two halves meet under the fuel line crossover pipe, but it is not totally invisible.

Is there a trick for getting the driver side FRC off without scratching it up, seems like i have to tweek it really good to get it off, just want to know before i mess it up lol. If i had a painted one on there it seems like the paint would crack with the tweeking involved in getting it off and on.

I put tape around the fuel lines before I remove the FRC ( luckily I don't do it too often ), as for the tweaking there's not much you can do to avoid it, it sucks having the double fuel lines.
I have RPI's chrome one piece cover, it looks great however it does not sit right over the TB, it sits a little high, and there is a few scuffs on it from my hood liner!
This one they are showing on sale looks like it just sits on the plenum and doesn't go over the TB, looking at a couple pics posted on their sale post on here.
They make 2 different ones, the one that does't cover the TB may fit better, Mine looks great, but I wish it would have fit better, also you have to be very carefull not to scratch the finish, it is not like chrome, it scratches very easily, use a very soft micofiber cloth!
