The story is over, lesson learned. now there is another problem. I do not see ABSOLUTELY any difference with these new headers, x pipe, and flomaster mufflers over my stock exchaust!!!
The car is repaired and runs great! BUT WHERE IS THE PROMISED PERFORMANCE????????
Some people say I need a real full scale tune, I am not sure anymore that it would make a difference.
I can not believe this!!! I could have bought a 370z , mod it slightly and have an under 5 sec 0-60 car.
It is a SHAME for a C5 to run 5 flat 0-60!!!
my friend's ls2 gto with headers,and intake does 4.8 0-60. Charger srt8 with similar mods does it in 4.75 sec!. Camaro SS 4.6 sec. I am starting to think that corvettes are seriously overrated. I am starting to regret that I bought a corvette, and when my budget allows I will probably trade it for brand new 370Z or a new 5.0. I was under impression that C5corvettes were great luxury,classy, stylish cars with performance to back it up.
May be I was wrong.:

You have ruined one of my favorite sayings to my doctor. I always tell him that when I repair a car there are no excuses, extra charges, etc. etc. Like when he wants to try some BS treatment with NO warranty. Seems you have become all excited and taken the long way around. That's no reason to blame it all on the finest American car made. What the heck is a 370z anyway?

What sort of BS TX are you talking about? What does waranty have to do with anything here???? I do not blame anything on corvette just saying that it is not what I expected it to be. Please note I 'am talking about C5 only, not C6, or C6 Z, or ZR1. If anything it is my fault that I bought this car!!! It is love and hate relationship in my case. I love the way it looks, the style, but totaly hate the weak performance. ( May be my vette is the slowest one?)
Well, may be when you get your ... handed to you by a MACH1, Trans Am, 370Z(Nissan 370Z) Camaro ss, challengr srt8, WRX sti,etc. you will understand what I mean. Is finest american car supposed to perform better than other cars??

Maybe you've been taking your cars to idiots to work on them. Look at the PUBLISHED numbers for your car. Bet it goes slower than stock now with all your hacking on it. Maybe you should leave well enough alone for a while before you make things worse.

I can sell you my stock 01' 6 speed that will get you into the mid 4's with NO MODS.
The auto's has small numeric gears in the rear, poor for off the line acceleration but great for highway mileage and top speed.

Bet you added less than 20HP with all the exhaust BS you've done-20HP ain't going to buy you much.

Where are you getting your comparison numbers?

Headers, X-pipe you're gonna pick up maybe 25-30 rwhp so your not going to feel I SOP.

What rear end do you have 2.73s

You picked cheap Chinese headers, mufflers that do not perform well on Vettes and No tune! What did you expect? You probably lost power. Did you do before and after dyno runs or before and after track results? So you really have no idea weather or not your mods yielded any gains.

Headers alone on a stock C5 is not going to make you a Cobra Killer. A pulleyed and exhaust 03 Stang will walk you.

The cars you mention above will not keep up with an intelligenty modded C5 and personally I will take a stock "slow" Vette over a Nissan or GTO any day.

You want your car quick then listen up.

Cam. Not monster cam just a good low end and mid at .575 and 224

Gears 3.42s for an A4 or 3.73s for a manual.

Dump the flowmasters and get Corsa, Borla or another "quality" catback designed for Vettes

Good tune to make it all work.

I noticed a slight difference with the headers but it wasn't until we swapped out the mufflers for B&B bullets that WOW! Car is nazzzzty now.

DING DING DING! Even if you do not do a cam, you still need a tune to really get any power out of those headers. Stangs are similar, if you just slap headers on them, they'll gain power, but not until the car is tuned do you feel the real power or any increase SOP.

You seem to fly off the handle and not listen very well, sorry, that is just my observation, especially since it took pages and pages of people telling you what was wrong with your car in the first place, and 3 or 4 shops later you finally listen to us here and take your vette to a specialist.

Did you do any research about C5's and headers? Or modding a C5? There are 1000's of threads here that talk about headers and gains. These cars/engines are sophisticated and tuned a conservative way from the factory....you can't juts slap a mod on it and expect the engine to figure out it has more room to breathe.

A professional Dyno tune makes a big difference and is necessary to optimize the SOTP performance of your C5. I had both of my C5's done and it was money well spent!!!!

After reading all of the excellent replies to the OP's request for help, his inability to act upon said excellent replies himself, his own admission of not knowing much about cars,his stating that this must be one of the slow ones... Oh the hell with it, Sell the Vette, you don't deserve it anyway.

Somebody said it right, this thread has been going on too long indeed.
There have been good advices given by good people and there have been silly replies like this one. This is my last post on this thread I just want to summarize my thoughts.
I have had other performance cars before this Corvette(charger r/t, 350Z, mustang) but always wanted a car that would run a 1/4 mile in mid 12 and 0-60 in high 4s. Corvette seemed like a perfect choice, I fell in love with the car(style, prestige, performance all in one package)
Sometime later, I was a little frustrated that my vette ran 5.5 0-60, and 13.5 1/4 mile. Before getting corvette I did some research on internet, talked to a few friends who were familiar with the car and got much better numbers than these. May be I got the wrong info, maybe I excepted too much from the car. Anyways, I decided that if I slightly mod it I will get the numbers I expected so I got CAI, predator , headers, x-pipe , and mufflers. Let me stress one thing I do not have the obsession to be faster than every car out there or to continue moding to become faster and faster no matter how fast it gets.
I simply had a goal and dreamed to have a car that performs like I said above. I just wanted my car to stand out from all other cars(mustangs, chargers etc) and to prove once again that corvette is a superior car.
Now after all that has happened, I think I should just try to get LS2 M6 and never ever mod it, just enjoy it stock. It should give me the performance I have been looking for.
