Default Dealer Rant.

Well I have a warranty of 1 year left on my car and need to re-place oil pressure sensor (Reads 130 psi) After taking it to the dealer and leaving it I get a call to tell me that my extended warranty don't cover the sensor, I go WTF, It says it covers electronics...Anyway to make a long story short they lett me the price it will cost me to have them do it...Ready for this?

3.5 hours labor @ 110 hr = 385.00
The sensor is 98.00 for a grand total of 483 bucks.
I tell them to don't do anything, That is crazy.
I have a relocation I made a couple of months ago and just thought I would have the sensor changed seeing I have a warranty...Not..
I bought the sensor for like 35 bucks.
I guess I will be doing it myself after all...

thats rediculous. i can replace mine in 30 minutes. i even bought my last sensor from the dealer and it was like 60 dollars. i just cant see how they can justify spending 3.5 hours on this job.

Strange indeed as I had mine done under my GMAPP extended warranty policy.

WTF?! I wouldn't have been so nice to them.

3.5 HOURS!? Is that in snail time? Give me a break. And $100 for an oil pressure sending unit if F-ing nuts... You must have taken your car to the Ferrari shop or something...

Did you wind up talking to a service manager? I'm willing to bet a little bit of barking and they might cover it.

I knew somebody that added the cost of an extended warranty in the sales price of the car, then went on to finance it. Gee, that was stupid of me. Oh yeah, never used the extended warranty.

Just remember that you have a warranty for peace of mind,,,,,as long as you don't make a claim!!! Kinda makes those warranties quite profitable when all you do is take money IN,,and don't pay out!!

I've had problems with the original 36/36,000 warranty in the last few years on GM products. Nothing seems to be covered. According to GM, it's the dealers discretion on warranty work. I've had an AC compressor not covered, nothing on my daughters Cobalt was covered under warranty. My vehicles are not modified in any way. GM just sucks as to warranty work.

I agree that if you didn't talk with the service manager about this, I would recommend it. And if that doesn't work, I'd be on the phone to the warranty company asking WTF this isn't covered.

I have had good luck with extended warranties covering things, although at times they do exclude certain items that were required to be replaced during the work on the car. Never made much sense to me.

I used the DPE kit without the gauge - works great. I would raise hell and persuade them to install your sender relocator on their dime so they won't have to redo the job for free when the replacement Mexican sender fails in one week.
