Default Adding TPM to aftermarket wheels?

My vette came with aftermarket wheels and no TPM sensors...

now its time for some new tires... soooooo... here is the question...

can I add TMS sensors to aftermarket wheels (Crays) and have the system work? I'd love to stop having to hit the reset button every time I start the car.

thank in advance.

Should go on just like OEM wheels. If not you can put them on with bands.

The factory sensors have a valve stem on them and they just push through the hole in the rim where the valve stem is normally located. There is a special nut that tightens over the stem to hold them in place.

There is a picture of one in the third post of the following thread:

I believe the factory sensors work with the Cray wheels without having to band the sensor to the body of the rim.

Got it.

Thanks.

now.... the thread mentioned having to "re-calibrate" the sensors if they end up in the wrong wheel... I would assume one would have to do this with new sensors? What is the process?

Yes, you need to train the TPMS on a new install (or if you move them to another wheel after thay have been trained.)

Here's an old link on the training process (post #5)
