I'm hearing a hum or whine in rear of car. What is a good way to check for a bad wheel bearing? The faster you go the worse it gets. It almost puts out a bit of drone.
I tried the 12-6 and 9-3 wobble the tire method but once I took the wheel off and spun the bearing by hand you could feel the harshness compared to the new timken.
I replaced both rears and then the fronts shortly after.
Rears took me 2 hrs in my driveway fronts where a 30 minute job.

My car rides smooth and no noise!

If you don't mind, what did those bearings cost? I've got a whine that's kind of bothered me, it only really happens at highway speeds, and when I am at steady throttle.

thanks
If it whines when you're under throttle and stops when you let up on the throttle - it sounds like a rear end going to me.

Are you saying the 'wobble' test did not show anything?
