Thank you. I wanted a Red on Red vert too but you can't find them in C5's. NO ONE wants to sale them. But I love this car.
You've really got me considering the removal of the BSMs, that looks awesome on the TR! Mines got a white top which I understand is kinda unusual, too. Beautiful ride you have there!
less sidewall = less flex = less traction .... In a higher horse application upsizing is your enemy.... however he just stated he's not very modded. Also, as I stated he will increase his unsprung weight depending on his choices. He's not going with expensive wheels like you may have. If he went with a repro in a 18/19 he could be adding 5-10 lbs extra on each corner. It would have an impact on performance you could feel.
I understand the sidewall comment on 18 vs 19, but he is also picking up 30 mm of tire width on the road. About a extra 1 1/4" of rubber.
Is there a formula you are using or is it just your thought that less sidewall will equal less traction when offset by more rubber in contact with the pavement?
Pete, I noticed no change in ride quality but then I do have z51 suspension and went with non runflats. . The wheels and tires are not "oversized", they have the same roll out as a stock C-5 Z06 so there will be no TC/ AH problems.
Ditto. Actually, I think my ride has improved a bit due to the new tires. And I have to say, now that I have 305s on 19X11s on the back, the stock size looks absolutely skinny.
1st hand experience. More of a been there done that thing. It makes a larger difference than you'd think. Now comparing a wider size in 19 vs narrower in 18.....I had similair tires on my car in a 335 19 and 295 18 The 295 did better for me. My experience has been the same as many of my friends and others here on this site as well. Most modded cars I see run no more than 18's because of this. Just because it's wider doesn't mean you have more rubber on the ground. More sidewall equals more flex so in an apple to apple (275 18 to 295 19) the 295 doesn't necessarily have more rubber on the ground. The larger sidewall will allow the 275 to contort much more than the 295. I would say given your scenario 295 19 vs 275 18 (not aired hard as a rock, aired maybe around 28 like I have to run) the 275 would grip better. But again, if he were modded, and were comparing apples to apples with the only diff being 18 to 19 sizes, it's a no brainer for a street tire with traction being a major concern

I have the Toyo T1R's on Z06 rims on my 02 C5 in 265/17 and 295/18 sizes. I'm extremely happy with the tires and wheels. I see no reason to go bigger - just more unsprung weight.

That's the combo I'm kinda looking at, do they stick out past the top of the fenders? Looks like you're okay with the wheels, huh.
Thank you a bunch!

No, but I'm running factory forged C5 Z06 rims that I had polished/silver painted and cleared. If the offsets on the C6 Z06 style wheels are the same as the C5's you will have no problems,
My set from JWM, I have no complaints whatsoever. 17x9.5 and 18x10.5 -bumped fronts to 275 and am about to change the rears, just deciding on the size (it will be larger than stock regardless).

I'm sure JWM has some nice wheels, but I think you should get what you realy want so there are no regrets. You can always find CCW's in the parts for sale section. Given time I'm sure you'd find the right set for you. I've owned several sets of high end wheels and never bought them new.
I'm currently running 18's and 19's and I didn't notice a change in ride quality. If you want to run R compound tires you will certainly have greater selection in 18", but many come with stiff sidewalls that will affect the ride. Good luck and post pics when you get them on.

Thanks guys
Everyone has a budget and these repros fit in most budgets. They are very nice for the money.
I like motor mods and the way I look at it, for the cost of CCW's and tires for them I can get some Chrome Repros that look just as good and a set of heads to put on the motor. No Brainer for me. Think of all that extra work that goes along with expensive aluminum wheels.....polishing! The CCW's look great, they just don't look that much better to justify the extra cost.
