Default Wheels?

I'm ready to pull the trigger on some new wheels and tires for my `01 vert and I need some feedback. I was seriously considering CCWs but they're a little out of my league. I think there's probably quite a few of you out there who have wheels from J.W. Motoring and I'd like to get your opinion on them, quality of chrome, fit, and general all around quality. Are you happy with your purchase of J.W.M. wheels? They have the sizes I'm interested in and hopefully they're the correct offset. I'm looking at 17" X 9.5 and 18" X 10.5 C6 ZO6 chromed deep dish. these'll be wrapped with TOYO T1Rs in 265/40R17s and 295/35R18s. Any information would be appreciated.

Thank you,
Pete O.

I've seen nothing but good things mentioned about that vendor.

However... those CCW's look soooo goooood!! Will you regret not saving a little more for the CCW's? I held off a little bit and chose the wheel I really wanted. Just my perspective.

If your going to get new wheels and tires why not up size to 18x 9.5 &19x 11.0 ? 275/35/18 and 305/30/19 look great. Also if you save some $$$$$ you could get your CCW's and use the new tires and sell your old/new wheels down the road. Just a thought...........

If you really like CCW wheels--------you can wait a little
longer and save up alittle more cash and not regret your
REAL choice. Everything does not have to be RIGHT NOW!!!
Good luck with your choice.

Don't know what power he's making but it will decrease traction considerably, also probably increase unsprung weight depending on the wheel/ tire combo.

I thought seriously about going 18"s and 19"s too but I don't want to compromise the ride quality. I learned that on my truck when I went to 20"ers. It's a bone stock car, H.P. wise so I don't know how it would pull oversize wheels and tires. One of the members I spoke with said he'd probably go back to 17s and 18s if he were to do it all again. He does run CCWs, but like I mentioned, they're a little out of my realm. I'm an old retired dude and SS doesn't take vette mods into consideration. I surely do thank you for your opinions!
If there any JW Motoring wheel users ouit there I'd sure like to hear from you.

Thanks again,
Pete O.

Not going to get into unsprung weight, unless you racing it doesn't matter. Not everyone tracks their car. My tires and wheels in the sizes I mentioned are only about 2 pounds (Per wheel) more than the stock wheels and runflats. As for traction decrease??? Explain that to me...

Pete, I noticed no change in ride quality but then I do have z51 suspension and went with non runflats. . The wheels and tires are not "oversized", they have the same roll out as a stock C-5 Z06 so there will be no TC/ AH problems.

I too have only seen very positive comments about the products JW Motoring sells. I will be looking at his offerings when I'm ready to buy new wheels/tires.

I have nothing but great things to say about them. They totally changed the looks of my car and I get absolutely all positive comments on them. I just can't justify paying CCW money for wheels and tires. I also would hate to have to polish aluminum wheels again.

Thanks for considering us and all that suggested us.

Check out this thread. Lots of members bought these wheels and posted up. I'm sure most would be happy to answer your questions.

less sidewall = less flex = less traction .... In a higher horse application upsizing is your enemy.... however he just stated he's not very modded. Also, as I stated he will increase his unsprung weight depending on his choices. He's not going with expensive wheels like you may have. If he went with a repro in a 18/19 he could be adding 5-10 lbs extra on each corner. It would have an impact on performance you could feel.
