I picked up one of the Meguiars "black box" wax/detail kit for Black cars.. and HOLY Shhhh that stuff is amazing! tough to get off the hands but wow what a hell of a shine! anyone else use this?
You beat me to the punch, I was going to post the same comment. I bought the turtle wax black box, not sure if that's what you meant. Comes with 2 detailer bottles, a cleaner and carnuba wax, all black liquid. This stuff is amazing. My car looked OK but after a couple of hours applying this stuff I don't want to drive my car because it looks so good.
i bought the black box but havent used it yet, should I use any rubbing compound before applying the black box or just straight up black box?? Just got an orbital buffer too I wanna use.

Unless you have a very specific reason, or a lot of experience (which would seem out of place with the question) try and stay away from straight rubbing compund. It really cuts in and you'll be doing a lot of unnecessary buffing to get anything you put it on to shine again.
I picked up some last summer. It's a PITA to put on but worth it.
The previous owner of my 03 was a serious autocrosser, HPDE and TT guy (along with his SO) so it picked a fair amount for rock chips on the nose.
Here's what it looked like after I used Black Box:
I have a back coupe and it looks nice but yours looks fantastic. What is this black box stuff, where do I get it? How do you apply it? If I can get mine to shine like yours, I may never get it out of the garage again. Beautiful car!!!

I picked it up at Advance Auto.
It includes a pre-conditioner/cleaner, liquid wax and detailing spray. All of it is tinted black.
Takes a while to do the first time since you do the entire car with the pre-conditioner, then again with the wax. You use the detailing spray in both steps when buffing them out.
Takes a fair number of micro fiber towels as well.
And, of course, everything you use (including your hands) winds up black.
To me it was worth the effort since the paint has hundreds of small chips from rocks and other debris from all the track time it saw in it's previous life.
My car is definitely looking tired from all the track boogers and rock chips. Think that I will give this kit a try and see if I can resurrect some sort of decent look on the car. Wax on - Wax off !!!
Actually I think Turtle wax did for a while but it evidently did not work as advertised. Then again how many different shades of red are there? That might have been part of the problem.
Will this stuff work on other dark colors such as dark blue.
I don't think you'd be too happy.
The pre-conditioner / cleaner and wax are both heavily tinted black. All the small chips and nicks would be filled with black kinda like normal wax fills them with white.
