I want to put caliper covers on my 04 coupe. It has '09 Z06 wheels on it. It has red calipers with Corvette logo on the front set but no logo on the rear set; I guess the rear set appear too small for a logo. Are the covers universal fit or do I need to know rotor size etc. before ordering? Advice please? Also when I bought the vette three weeks ago, the dealer asked if I wanted to buy a warranty for it and I turned him down. Do you all suggest warranties on vettes you bought used like me? It has just over 40K on it. Thanks for reading this.
no "flame" on the looks of the covers - but I would not want anything on there that might retain heat - definitely not if you are going to do any HPDE or track days.
warranties are like most things on a car purchase - price negotiable.
Some are good but price vs coverage must be right....be sure things like clutch/driveline are covered - they are expensive to work on.
Whenever some makes a posting about these "covers" they get beat up pretty good. Comments like, "they are fake" etc are going to arise.
Then someone is going to come to your rescue and say, "its your car and do what YOU like".
Good luck
Painting them yourself is not that difficult, but it is your car and if you like them go for it. I would have liked the Corvette raised lettering on the rear as well. I know some have used front calipers on the rear but need to investigate if it would be feasible and would work correctly.
I personally bought an extended warranty when I bought my used vette, I feel better safe than sorry. As far as the caliper covers I actually bought some powder coated calipers from thepowdercoater.com, he is a forum vendor and I like them alot. Just another option for you......GL

Thanks guys. redrckt97, I notice your vette does not appear to have caliper covers and I love the color red. I don't care if others say there are too many red vettes out there. I wish my black beauty had been red! I'll have to give the warranty some more thought. Had a Mustang GT with extended warranty and used it once to replace AC comp. Haven't had one on all the cars I've owned since that 89 GT and haven't need it.
I've done some checking of caliper covers at parts houses and frankly, I think they don't look that good. I believe I'll leave the red calipers showing. They look great anyhow.
The Corvette caliper is unique to the car, has the name on it from the factory. I have no clue why anyone would ever consider covering that up. Warranties, depends on if it's from a Chevy dealer or Mickey Mouse Motors. (dealer yes, the rest aren't worth the paper you signed)

actually, the caliper covers are well made, and they have tested to run the brakes several degrees cooler, if you care about that...(they are aluminum which transfers heat much faster than steel or iron) see the MGP website for the data. The only hoaky thing about the covers is the fake silver rivets/bolts....they are just painted on. The red paint is very nice (powder coated). Some might not like the size (they simulate a big brake setup) but overall appearance-wise they look good with aftermarket wheels/tires. Also, they hide crappy painted surfaces after you've repainted your calipers several times. So, overall they do serve a purpose.
MGP caliper covers! i love mine, i think they look much better and cleaner than just painted brake calipers, and you can keep these clean!. You need to actually see them on a car to tell if you like them or not.
Thanks for the opinions guys. I'm heading to California in our motorhome around June 10th. Taking wife and grandson to see the great American West. We're going through Missou, Kansas, Utah, Nevada and on into Cal. via I-80 from Reno with ultimate destination San Fran. Are there any Corvette places enroute to purchase vette parts? I'd much rather pick up a part in person if I possibly can.
