Default Junk yard

So, I am very sad to say that I am going to be selling my vette. (my girlfriend is upset with me too about it) I have 92k miles on it and I realized that the resale value is going to tank once I hit 100k. It has taken a long time for me to build myself up to accepting that this needs to happen and it is probably been one of my hardest decisions. But I had a good 4 years with the car and I am going to look forward to the day I get a new one after I have had a family and am ready for it again. With all that being said, I need to fix a few things on the vette. Does anyone know of any junk yards in MD, preferably near the DC/Baltimore/Frederick area that has corvette that I could grab some parts out of? I am just looking for a couple clips and a windsheild washer reservior. If anyone knows of any could you please let me know soon. I realize if I sell it I need to sell it soon because everyone wants their vette for the summer. Any information would be greatly appreciated.

Just for your information, I am still staying in the family. I am going to get one of the new camaro's. I just need to figure out what color combo I want. Once this all happens I will post pictures for some of my last posts.

The resale value tanked a LONG time ago you kinda missed the boat on that one. But do what you need to do and post pics of the new ride when you get it.

Kelly Blue Book was still showing 15k on it last week and I only owe 10k more on it so I consider that a profit. Definately enough to go get a couple beers with and a nice down payment

Post up what parts you need in the parts section on the forum, much easier than dealing with a parts recycler.

I think I am going to do that after work, but the parts I need are like a sun visor clip and nominal parts like that so I didnt think a recycler would be that bad. Thanks for the help

They don't want to waste time with little parts like that as there is no money in them.

There is a place in the White Marsh MD area. I believe it is called Corvette Performance. They are located on Phildelphia Rd and they have a lot of corvettes out behind their shop and I think they will sell off parts.

If you like the vette,,,why not just keep it,,enjoy it,and get your monies worth out of it!! Not uncommon for these cars to go 2-300 K with no problems,,with proper care that is!!There is a forum member that passed his C5 on to his son at around the 300K mark and last report still going at around 330K!! I have a fellow club member that uses his 99 as a regular strip car,,with 120K on the clock!! He just made "Fast 16 street cars" at the strip the other night!! No real need to dump it JUST because of miles!! My golf buddy just traded his 97 GMC Sonoma with just under 600K,,all original drive train. Take care of it,,drive it,, and enjoy!!

If all you need are small items like a sunvisor clip, just go to your local dealer and order them. I think I paid about $3 for the clips last time I bought them. Not sure what else you need though - you could look at the used parts vendor here on the forum too.

I sold my C3 when we had kids. Took me 23 years to get back in another one. Regretted it for 23 years. Good luck and enjoy the Camaro.

I can't understand why you're worried about resale value when that ship sailed a couple of years ago! Now is when you can mod it, drive and not worry about it.

Haha, you guys are not really helping. I was convinced this morning that I was going to be selling it and now I am back to square 1. On one hand I can sell it and get a new car with no problems and that has a very small chance of having things break on it, but the other hand where I can keep the only car that I have ever wanted since I was 5 but have a better chance of something breaking. UGH

Oh, thats not the issue, I am actually hoping within the next year the girlfriend status is going to change to fiancee status and I told her already that she doesnt get to decide on it. But that doesnt stop her from complaining. I wish there was something that did. If anyone knows of anythign please let me knoe (not diamonds... too expensive)

Keep it... If the motor ever goes, you spend a few grand and get a replacement with low miles.

If you love it I think it's silly to let it go. I was looking at low mile LS1 and LS6 motors out of pure curiosity (I am only at 50k miles) and I saw quite a few with low miles for $2000-3000ish.

There is no guarantee that something won't go wrong with a new car (any make/model). Look at all the recalls that have been in the news lately.

If you enjoy the vette, keep it!

This is a woman's perspective: If GF is complaining about the vette now, what is she going to complain about next once you get rid of it? We always find something to complain about!!!
