I kept my 99 stock for 4 years and under 100k. Now, at 92K I'm having the same dilemna. But, I payed it off! So, I just had it repainted, put rims on, black out kit and have almost everything fixed. I'm keeping it and just made it mine. Also, I can't see restarting payments all over again. The $500 a month or so that you won't make in a payment can fix a lot of broke..
keep the vette. i get down sometimes and feel like selling it because of minor things that break here or there. but the actual drive-train is bullet proof. i have 145k miles on my car and it still runs like a champ. they are amazing cars
Get a soldering gun and melt the plastic till the clips hold
I did that over 9 years ago after I purchased the vette. Used a Weller gun with a cutting or smoothing tip. Took a few tries but it has held the visors very well. I agree that you should look in the parts section on here for small items. If really small go to the dealer. I replaced one of my curved air dams and it didn't cost a fortune.
You could try www.car-part.com. I got a 2000 Taurus engine locally with 50k miles for only $500.
you are going with a camaro after having a c5?? you are going to be very disappointed my friend. there is nothing wrong with a 100k+ mile c5. mine has 118K miles and its in better condition than some ive seen with 40k. its all about the condition with these cars, not the mileage. as long as you dont do any serious mods, they will last for however long you feel like driving them. i dont think anybody even knows how long they will last because they just arent old enough yet. it will be interesting to see 20 years from now how many c5 vettes there are with over 300k miles. im sure there will be a ton of them, including mine.
Dude it's just you girl friend not even you wife .I'd say latter to the girl friend the car is part of the package if she wants you to be her man she'll have to deal with the vette. why is it that we're the ones that have to give up our sh -- thats think of how hard it was to get the first vette and how easy it was to get the girl. vette daily pleasure , girl friend when she feels like it

Truth!!!! Take the cash that you would spend on a new car and put it away or mod your car the way you want to. or go buy a cheap beater or safe family car. You will regret it trust me everytime I'm in a "regular car" I'm like man this sucks I need my vette. I don't think the camaro or really any other car has that feeling of wanting to drive just to drive. Well not for the price these cars are at now. Dude KEEP IT!!!
whatever happened to the guy that was so desperate to get rid of his vette cause him and his girl split and it remended him of here too much..kinda been wondering what came of that...
Doubt a C5 with 92,000 miles is worth much more than one with 100k. I feel like my 2001 has pretty much bottomed out on KBB (which I pay no attention to). Just about any year Corvette will sell for at least $15,000 if it is in great condition.
I just paid mine off and added $10,000 agreed amount to my insurance policy so that I would get about $25,000 if I totaled it right now.

Last I heard him and his new boyfriend where doing fine in their new prius.
Keep it... If the motor ever goes, you spend a few grand and get a replacement with low miles.
If you love it I think it's silly to let it go. I was looking at low mile LS1 and LS6 motors out of pure curiosity (I am only at 50k miles) and I saw quite a few with low miles for $2000-3000ish.
To be frank, you seem to be the one who HAS DECIDED to get rid of the Corvette. The devaluation of a Corvette from 92K miles to 100K is minuscule. but you sound to me as someone who's already made up your mind somewhere back somewhere in your life to dump the Vette.

you are so "right on" Road Dog! A good wife is hard to come by, girlfriends are a dime a dozen! If she really cared about you she would want you to keep the Vette. dump her and buy some mods!
Dave
If you like the vette,,,why not just keep it,,enjoy it,and get your monies worth out of it!! Not uncommon for these cars to go 2-300 K with no problems,,with proper care that is!!There is a forum member that passed his C5 on to his son at around the 300K mark and last report still going at around 330K!! I have a fellow club member that uses his 99 as a regular strip car,,with 120K on the clock!! He just made "Fast 16 street cars" at the strip the other night!! No real need to dump it JUST because of miles!! My golf buddy just traded his 97 GMC Sonoma with just under 600K,,all original drive train. Take care of it,,drive it,, and enjoy!!
Kelly Blue Book was still showing 15k on it last week and I only owe 10k more on it so I consider that a profit. Definately enough to go get a couple beers with and a nice down payment
You still owe $10 grand on it and now you want to go further in debt. Are you crazy? Admit it, you just want new wheels. The economics of your situation dictate keeping what you have and drive it till it drops. Nothing like the deprciation of a new car to relieve the pain of a car that is barely depreciating. Buy that new car and you'll lose $10,000 the minute you leave the parking lot.
