Try to get it as close to the stock location. You don't want engine heat and what not to screw up readings. The temp has been calibrated by GM for that location.

the problem is, the plastic where it was mounted is no longer there. not sure why, but it was removed when the previous owner had some performance upgrades installed. the closest place to the original spot i can mount it is about an inch or two closer to the engine on the rail that keeps the bumper from scraping. i'm a little concerned with it being too close to the radiator and cooling lines, but i don't really have any other options. so i'll drive it around a little and see how it goes. so far it's worked, but i haven't driven it far enough to find out for sure.

You may want to try moving it closer to the front of the car if at all possible, but I get what you're saying.

Mine started reading 69 degrees so I searched to find this thread; swapped the temp sensor and all is well. Thank you Corvette Forum!
