Default Exhaust leak

Okay, so I'm having a small exhaust leak and I'm quite sure that it's somewhere in the cat area.

I have LG headers with cats to the stock Ti system.

The clamps that I use are the band style that LG provides.

Are those clamps good?

What's the best way to tighten the system up?

I do not want to weld since reversing that might be a bit too much work.

Ideas?

tighten band clamps to around 30ft-lbs

drive a few miles

re-tighten

drive a few miles

re-tighten

should be good.

No go there, tried that. The clamps are bottomed out, won't tighten anymore.

I don't mind buying new clamps if that's what it needs to be done right.

Any suggestions?

Quite sure because you can hear it? If there is a leak you should have some black soot around it.... I would say get some new clamps or call LG, perhaps you have an older model header and they may have better clamps now??? Just throwing out ideas...

Yes, I can hear it. It's most audible when I'm driving along something where the sound can bounce back. I can smell it a little bit as well.

I will call LG. That was such an obvious answer that I totally overlooked it!

I've been having a ticking that makes me think its an exhaust leak as well... stock exhaust other than a corsa axle back (or cat back...?)... Are there any areas of the stock equipment that might be prone to a leak, and if so, how the heck am i going to fix this...?

Sorry to revive a thread but the leak is getting to the point where I'm getting a code P0134.

Called LG but the man said to just buy a clamp set for $70.

my LG leak turned out to be a bit more than the clamp, the hanger eventually broke of the header, hard to tell because everything is still in place. I suggest taking a look, next time you're down there.

I think the headers have a lifetime warranty, right?

I will take a look now that you mention it. It's just difficult being in the military and having to use rent a bay at the auto shop on post. If I were still living at home, I would've taken care of this problem pretty quick.

It was good meeting you this morning! Hope you can get that leak fixed up. There should be a show on Fort Polk coming up soon. I'll get the details and send em' out.

Good meeting you as well, sorry if I startled you like that.

I'm going to take it down to that shop since LG doesn't seem to care and Anthony never answered my PM.

I don't know if there's warranty.
but it wasn't worth the downtime and cost for me, being this is my daily driver. and I didnt want to remove my header and ship anything. so I just had an exhaust shop weld it an remove the flange.

this was my leak after removing the hanger bolt to see. and you can see the weak point on the other header. I chased it for months, and being constantly reminded every time i pull of to another car/wall and it echoes back
