Ok so yesterday I was changing my brakes from the drilled and slotted to OEM. The rear caliper brackets were extemely tight. I do not have an air compressor yet so I was stuck with hand tools, not that big of deal. I needed just a little more leverage cause of how tight these two bolts were and as everyone knows theres not a whole lot of room in the fenderwells. So I got my shoulder against the fender wall and I heard "CRACK" so I look back and this is what I see......
Can anyone give me an idea of what it would cost to fix this or would it be cheaper to get a new quarter panel? I found one for $200.

Can't say for sure. But this may give you an idea. My front bumper cover needs repainted due to rock chips and some ******* removing the emblem with a key(happened to previous owner). The local corvette shop whom I know the owner threw a friend said he gets $400 to $500 just to repaint the cover. He does superb work and I'm sure i could get it done cheaper else where. You could have Joe Bob down at the corner do the repair but for $200, if the one you found is in good condition and the same color I'd get it. Mine looks perfect and you'd never know the quarter and cover were replaced. Its easy to swap them out as well.

Thank you RamAirTA that was one hell of a good point I appreciate it. That did help me make up my mind thanks again.
back it up with some fiberglass, sand it, and bondo the outside. backed by fiberglass, it will be stronger in that area than the original bumper. it is a very small crack and it shouldnt take more than 30 minutes to fiberglass, bondo, and sand. no point in spending 200 bucks when you can repair it for 15 bucks. obviously it will need to be painted.

The problem with this is, the repair WILL SHRINK, and I GUARANTEE you will eventually see the repair (especially on dark color cars). If you spray enough clear to block sand later after the shrinkage, you can minimize seeing the repair but since panels are so cheap and you don't have to bond them on like the old Vettes, why mess with a cracked panel anymore???

can anyone tell me if the quarter panels are interchangeable from all models or not? I have a vert.
I recall reading that the Vert and Z06 are the same but the coupe is a little different. Not positive but I think the coupe quarter can be cut slightly to work on the other two but you have to add a little to make the Vert/Z06 quarter fit the coupe. Hope someone with a better memory than mine will chime in.........
PS, I'm with those that say replace it with an undamaged one............

Thats if you have auto body knowledge! Getting it straight on the outside is hard for someone to do. $200 isnt bad, but what is shipping? It will be a big box, It might cost $100 to get it to your door. That is a pretty small crack. I would say go to a reputable body shop and get a Quote and go from there. Some used fenders and 1/4s have nicks and scratches and the shop you have paint it will charge you extra (clean up) time for used parts. Also that could be fixed on the car, just remove the liner to access the backside. I bet it would be cheaper to have it repaired, and a GOOD shop will do it right.
I d say get a estimate.. I fixed mine V.S replace.
