About a year ago I went to get my wheels balanced and the shop told me one was bent and will not balance, I had to see this with my own eyes and its only slightly bent. Doing some research in my area (Virginia Beach at the time) nobody said they could repair it. Soon later I bought some chrome ZR1 wheels and have the set of mag wheels sitting in boxes hoping to do something with them someday.
From what I've read they don't seem repairable, has anyone attemped to tho? They look great IMO and I'd like to sell them if I can fix them.
there are a couple of places up in the miami/ft lauderdale area that supposedly specialize in wheel repair. i see their trucks from time to time (with advertising on the sides) on I-95 during my daily commute. if you are up this way or plan on being up this way, try a google search and see what you can find. from what i remember hearing, they really can repair damaged wheels. that said, i would think an out of balance wheel shouldn't be a big problem.
while it is your choice, i would take one in ft lauderdale over one in miami if you can find it even though it is just a bit further north of you.
I have HRE's and drove over a 1x4 and bent two badly and I found a company in Bath, PA online and the service was excellent. I live in FL and I shipped them out and they came back near perfect, if you have problems finding them contact me and I'll have a look through my paperwork.
Thanks for the info guys. I'll start my search in the Ft. Lauderdale area. I think the shops I looked at were afraid to touch them, they are after all made of magnesium.
There's a really great wheel collision center up here in Bath, PA. They did a rebuild of one of my front 2003 50TH Anniversary champaign colored wheels. They do a huge amout of UPS inbound and outbound business ? Great company though !
