For those of you who have soundproofed the interior of your Corvettes, what is the best way to start? Meaning the order of components and moldings you remove? Also, what parts need to be removed?
I have the pre-cut kit from Madvette and I also plan to isntall some dynamat in some other key areas to further help reduce road noise, etc., however based on my search, I see a lot of before/during/after photos, however nothing that really walks through which interior sections need to be removed first.
I did the MadVette install. I would remove the seats first. I would also put down a towel or whatever you want to protect the moldings near the door when pulling the seats out. This will give you a great deal of room to get inside and remove other panels.
To start with removing other panels, you should remove the molding that goes across the car in the back, under the rear window. I have a Z06, so I'm not sure what the coupe is like... After I removed that piece, I was able to work my way from the rear of the trunk to the front of the vehicle removing panels.
Please be careful on the moldings that are next to the doors. They pull up and up only. I managed to one half off, and then pull the rest of the way from one end. Not the thing to do. You want to pull it up and only up. I damaged the fiberglass underneath and was not a happy camper.
The MadVette instructions are pretty good at telling you the order of things to do it in.
