when i bought my Y2K A4 coupe (used) i had no intentions of modding it.
after owning it for a year or two, i found out what i really liked about it and what i wanted to change. first, the stock exhaust had to go. just didn't sound like i wanted it to. i put on the NXT Step Performance catback and i like it much bettter. now i am doing a diff swap from 2.73's to 3.42's. powder coated calipers should be on the way soon.
no major changes, but i'm "tweaking" it the way i want it. i still have a few more things i'd like to see different. it's a toy for me, not a DD, so as i find money and motivation i'll make those changes.
one thing i certainly don't do is "mod for mod's sake" or "keep up with the jone's". it's fun to see what others have done to their cars and it certainly gives me lots of ideas. fun part is i get to pick and choose which parts i want to mod!
one mod i don't think i'll ever do is aftermarket wheels. i just love the way the stock thin spokes look on these cars. lots of guys would disagree...
to the "i'm gonna keep it stock" guys - no worries. whatever and however you want "your" vette - go for it! i love 'em all.
i appreciate the work that goes into highly modified cars, but i don't want one. had one (not a vette) in the past and it became a headache. i already have a bone stock (NCRS Top Flight) 87, so my 04 will get some mods. i'm hoping to make things a little quicker and a little better looking, but not over the top. i want people to look at it and 'know' it looks 'better' but not realize anything was changed. make sense?

My '98 Pace Car is stock except for a Blackwing and a Corsa exhaust with an X-pipe. My black car is a different story. I feel like every change/mod that I've done to the black car has it improved it. It has suspension, brakes, differential, transmission, intake, exhaust, lighting, interior, audio and wheels/tires. About the only thing remaining stock is the engine itself and the body.
The car is a pleasure to drive and I've been told very tasteful appearance wise. Like anything else, it's all what you make of it.
Some interior dress up pieces, the brake, side cove, rear vent screens.
Got an MGW shifter to install but haven't yet.
Would like to do headers, xpipe and catback along with new intake but haven't taken the plunge...keep lurking in for sale forum for the "right deal"...

That makes 100% sense to me. We think alike... I also like to go for the "clean" look. I try hard to make things cleaner looking, without adding anything one thing that stands out from the rest. I'm going for that blended look, where everything works together as a whole package.
Just had the seats redone and dual cone air filter and none run flats other then that it's stock. damm thing is fast enough already to much extra money for a few seconds.
I've been into hot rodding since I was 12 yrs old, building slot cars and models for competitions. I got my first car at 16 yrs old and promptly made a hot rod out of it. Every car or Harley that I've owned since has been modified extensively in some manner.
My Z16 is the first car that I've owned that I've resisted the urge to modify.
I read the threads here everyday and have to ask: How many of you have just left the vette stock or maybe made a minimal mod?
FYI: I have a stock 01 that has remained that way for about nine years. It needs new floor mats so it might get a new "mod" mat. I love it as it is. It's a Corvette and that in itself is pretty cool. So anyone else avoiding the mod disease?
Thanks.
Bill
Bless all those that can stay away from the "mod" bug.
I envy you!!
Being somewhat young (24)... my car's dont stay stock for very long. lol. But I tend to mod with reliability in mind since i use my vette as a daily driver.
yea being young(19) does make it harder to not mod anything in some ways but it harder to get the money to do so.
like i want a corsa xtreme cat back with x pipe and pro tips but thats going to be at least a year from this carlisle. but i think im going to get a vararam system this summer, just installed one on my dads vette and it wasnt too hard and they said they would give me a better deal if i got one.
