Default Oil Filters....

Been using standard AC-Delco's as long as I have owned the car. Started back changing my own oil a couple changes ago and have purchased the Mobile 1 filters. Are they worth almost 3X the cost? For background info, my car is a 2000 6M with 105K on it. I drive a 105 miles a day to work and back, so my oil changes are 7500-8000 miles apart and changed when teh DIC gets to about 15-20%. What are you guys using?

NAPA Gold or Wix - supposedly the same filter anyway. I've heard that you should avoid FRAM, but I don't know exactly why.

My picks are in this order.
Napa Gold.
Mobil 1.
And NEVER K&N filter. Why you ask? You see the nut on the bottom? That hangs down lower under the car and is asking to be hit by some object.

I don't cheap out on my 52k dollar car. I use Amsoil filters. I'm not taking a chance with cheap parts or maintenance for my car. What's 12 bucks every 3-4 months anyway?

Hmmm...this is the filter that I have been using since the car was new. A few times I've used AC Delco and Mobil 1 filters but noticed that the oil flow isn't as good as the K&N. Mobil 1 claims 99.2% efficiency and K&N claims 99%. In any event, I never had a problem with K&N, including going through deep pot holes and steep slanted parking lot access ramps.

Also, have you noticed that most filters, except for Mobil 1 and K&N have gone cheap on their base plates...it's like they're paper thin.

P.S. The filter you're showing is the incorrect number....at least for my Z06 it should be a HP-1007 (Mobil 1 = M107).

The picture is just a sample of what the K&N looks like, Look under your car and you will see the filter hanging down below the motor. Which is able to get hit with something, Rock, piece of wood and such. Take a look and you will see what I am talking about.

Here you go HP-1007

....same here. I've been using them for 9 years and have never had the nut portion scrape or impact anything. If you are moving quickly enough over a speed bump to damage your oil filter, then your car will have many more problems before the bump hits the filter!

I wasn't talking about a speed bump, I am talking about something on the road that you couldn't avoid like a softball size rock or something, I am just saying I would rather have my filter up where it don't hang below the motor where something could happen to it, In my opinion it is just 1 more thing not to worry about, If it was going to happen it would happen to me....lol
