I'm a new vette owner-2000 convertible, and I have a few small problems I would like to clean up. The passenger power window doesn't work. When I bought it in Feb it didn't and then started to work on its own and now isn't working. Can hear a click upon pushing the button. Another problem is the digital display has not worked since buying it. Saw info on a sticky about soldering to cure both of these problems but now cannot find it. Looking for instructions on removing display and door panel. My FOB is not working-have tried going through the FOB training without any success. The other problem is the battery drains dead if left for a week without driving it. The battery is 2 years old and had it tested and is good. Would really appreciate any help.
Thanks, Darren
btw dont be afraid to do this, it is easy and it works.
Regarding the battery draining, the C5 eats batteries. Im not saying there is nothing wrong with yours, just that it is a known problem with many C5's to some degree. Many people hook up to a battery tender if they arent going to drive it every few days.
I use a Ctek 3300 (which I highly recommend) and mine is on it all the time even though I do use the car daily or every few days.
Regarding the fob, did it ever work? Battery in it good ?
Good luck
and a little time learning how to search here is well spent sometimes it returns a ton of stuff to wade through but after a while you learn the catch phrases that most people use when posting suff, can really narrow down the results.
Thanks for the info guys. My FOB did work somewhat when I got it. She said she was having problems with it but when pressing the lock and unlock together then it would work and then stop. Replaced the battery and don't get anything now. Tried FOB training and no response.
The little board in there (or the solder on a component) is probably cracked.
You can get an oem replacement here from one of our vendors like Gene Cully at GM Partshouse, or even pick one up on the auction site. they are not expensive.
