2000 Torch Red hatchback with factory chrome wheels. Being 6'3" I am learning how to get into the car without looking like too much of a dork.
Found out you should not leave the key in the car lest you drain the battery?
The car has stock exhaust and I have always preferred some attitude when it comes to how the vehicle sounds (08 FJR with Staintunes is the other toy).
After much research and mucho YouTube videos, it would appear the Corsa Touring system might be the way to go? Or just stay stock?
Tried another C5 with some type of aftermarket exhaust and the interior noise was completely unacceptable. Does the Corsa Touring really cancel out the drone noise or is it all marketing hype?
Also after polishing and waxing all day Saturday on the car a lift is definitely in the works.
Lots of good info here with some searching. Anyone have the Corsa Touring system and would offer an opinion?
I can't help you on the exhaust.
However,,, congratualtions on your new baby.
One quick piece of advice, attempt to find out if the car has a column lock bypass installed. If in doubt, be sure to read a thread or two about the column lock 'problem'.
BTW, I've found the little ledge at the rear of the door opening works really well as a support in exiting a C-5. Just place left hand on the ledge and push yourself up...
the corsa exhausts sound tinny and raspy, kind of crappy sounding. the correct exhaust for a C5 is Borla.
j/k but seriously there are so many different opinions and different reactions to exhausts on this forum. some owners have drone with one brand and other say there's none. some say adding headers and an X pipe makes the drone go away and others say it makes it worse. the only thing you can do is try to find a car that you can listen to and decide for yourself what sounds best. listening online doesn't really cut it. check out a local vette club and you'll likely find tons of examples to listen to. or worst case make the best guess and if it doesn't work out sell it on the forum to recoup some cash and try another brand. some owners have gone through multiple brands before finding the one they like best.
I personally have Borla and love it. it does drone. most of the time its fine and barely noticeable, sometimes its overpowering and gives me a headache. seems to depend on temperature, humidity, elevation etc which is really bizarre. But to me, I've heard a few other exhaust configurations and to my ears they all sound like crap. Borla on the other hand sounds pretty good especially at high RPMs which is the range where the corsa's I've listened to hurt my ears with raspiness.

Pretty sure mine does not have the bypass installed. Insert key and turn and I can hear the solenoid or whatever makes the noise in the steering column. Just finished the video on battery performance and how it affects the steering lock.
Is the consensus to do the bypass? One out of town incident could cost some jack that it seems $49.95 could cure.
Any downside to the bypass scenario?

Corsa makes a very good exhaust and no drone. I'm running the Indy exhaust on mine - sounds so much better than the stock system - no drone, quite under normal driving conditions, really wakes up when you step down on the gas.
Never liked the Corsa sound too much myself. Too thin and mid range sounding for me. I too prefer the Borla Stingers.
I remember when I first noticed the C5, it was the sound that captured my attention. I asked the owner about the exhaust and he mentioned the Borlas. I knew at that moment what my next car would be.
Corsa is probably the most pouplar exhaust though. People who have them swear by them... and they all say that the Corsas do not drone.
If money is tight you might want to consider further exhaust mods before deciding on one. Try to go to Vette shows and start talking with the owners about their setups. It will help steer you go down the right path.
Corsa all the way. lol. I have the sport system with tigershark tips. It really does depend on what sounds good to you. i have found corsa doesnt have that deep old school rumble, me it sounds more exotic and refined. And no drone whatsoever.
Congrats. Had Corsa Indy's on my last two C5s. I'd consider the Indy's over the Touring. The Touring aren't much louder than the stock exhaust. Absolutely no drone with Corsa's. At cruise they are quiet and at WOT sound great. Had the Borla's, liked the deeper sound, but couldn't take the drone.
Best thing to do is to go for a ride in cars with different systems. You can't really make a good comparison by comparing sound bits or videos.

A friend of mine has the same exhaust, sounds great except for the motor boat sound. He does not have an xpipe. I have the Corsa Sport with X pipe. They sound the same at idle but at wot the Sport is quite a bit louder.
Just one thing....if you have chrome wheels they are not OEM...and vice versa....if they are OEM...they're not chrome....unless someone had them chromed....GM did not offer C5 chrome wheels.
