everyone,
I need to have my car shipped from Oklahoma out to Arizona, Can anyone reccommend a good carrier that wont damage my car. Thanks in advance.
Jason
Click on the "My Photos" link under my avatar. Then scroll down till you see the blue truck and note the phone number (on the side of it) of the company I used to ship from MN to Socal. They did the job right. I'd use them again.
There are usually two tiers of shipping, covered (inside a truck) and exposed. Covered is more expensive. You'll want to ask if your vehicle will be moved while in transit (ie. will they move it from one truck to another or even move it to get to other vehicles being delivered). The less its moved in transit the less chance of scratches and dings.
Nice timing - I need to ship both of my C5s from Indiana to California in the next month or two.
For all you guys saying drive it, I for one (and the OP, possibly) am asking because it's a necessity - three cars and moving the entire household + family. This is not a pickup or pleasure trip - no time to cruise 2100 miles. I need the safest way to transport two vettes without having to drive them.
I'm in the process of getting one shipped from OK to PA. It's supposed to arrive this Sunday I'm using Reliable and so far the customer service is ok but nothing special. I'll let you know how satisfied I am when it arrives. They were a couple hundred bucks cheaper than Intercity and Fedex Transport. Cost for me was $1152 for enclosed delivery. I'm sure that you can save a few hundred $$ if you go with the open trailer.
You need some one who has a truck with air ride that way it don't bounce around inside the truck if your going that route
All of our trucks have air ride. Springs went out a long time ago.
AZ to OK should cost 5 to 6 hundred on open rack. 6 to 9 closed.
This time of year open is fine, just make sure who ever is selling the car does a complete and perfect inspection of it, SIGNS off on it and on the vettes the important place that has the most damage is under the nose. Photos always help and can be e mailed before the hauler leaves the street so its just added protection. If its a rag top make sure its on the top. CARS LEAK and if you don't know what your top looks like your stuck with what you get when it gets there. I've bought a few tops myself cause I got greedy.
Best Idea is fly down and drive it back. This time of year its a shame you can't take the time to enjoy that short trip. Lot cheaper to do it yourself and you only live once....
Its a one day drive if you push. Two days to stop and enjoy the short trip with time to spare.

Top of the line. Best service you will get in open rack car hauling. I've hauled hundreds for them and they drove me crazy calling checking where I was but they are all about the service.
They have their own inspection forms and everything has to be done to their specks.
Winter I would say closed but summer open is fine.
You will get the drivers phone number and there is also a service any of us offer that is delivery date time. You pay a little more but its there on a date you agree on or they rent you a car.
All kinds of in's and outs in our world. Can't express the inspection at pickup and drop off enough and if they pick it up while your there. Go over every little scratch, chip ect. You get my point.
Good luck and enjoy the move. ........
Thanks liveaboard74. I want enclosed. Besides, my company will be footing the bill for my move and has an allowance for extras such as more than one car.

Hey,, you got it knocked..
When your moving 2 and 3 units that can cost in closed racks when your footing the bill.
Enjoy the west coast. Its a beautiful place to live...
Intercity Lines will be glad to give you a shipping quote on your Corvette from AZ to OK. Please let us know which cities the car picks up from and delivers too and we will be glad to give you a price quote.
