Unless you could get an '06 or newer C6 for the $30K mark, I'd recommend the C5Z. Yes, you don't have a removable top, but the performance capabilities are great and you should be able to get a really low mileage '04 Z for that money or less.
Don't get me wrong, I like the C6, but I just like the looks of the C5 better.
Hi All, I'm looking to move up from a c4 vert to a c5 z06 or c6. Budget constraints limit me to less than 30K. I have driven a c5Z and I thought it was great! I would appreciate any opinions on the c5z versus nonZ c6.
If it was me I would go with the C6 over the C5z. I love the C5 cars but just cannot get past that Fixed Roof Coupe of the Z. That was just a left over body type (an idea for a poor mans Vette that failed) and GM needed to use it for something, so.....
Could probably get more for your money in going with either a regular C5 coupe or convertible. Other that that I would go for the C6 coupe.
I love my C5Z and I really like the C6. My biggest complaint with the C6 is the interior. If you took the crossed flags off the steering wheel and happend to wake up in the driver's seat of the C6, you'd NEVER know you were in a Corvette. The dash and instrument panel could just as easily be in Buick Regal.
I own one of both generations and like them both, the C5 is a great design and more affordable, the newer C6 took me a few years to warm up to the non-popup headlights, and I like the fit and finish better in the C6 and in my case the LS3 is a great stock platform

Well now that you've driven the C5Z you need to drive a C6. The Z to me has an already classic body style w/raw performance to match. The standard C6 will give you a plush ride and can get you the same ticket. For 30 max you could get a fully loaded 07 Coupe. For a little less a real decent C5Z. I picked the Z.
In the end, pick the right color and body style or you will regret it later.
