I spoke wiht John at CCW when I had him custom build that set for me about the flat black center. He said those wheels are shot peened to harden the metal. Polishing them after that procedure made for a bad finish. SO he (at that time) always sold the 3 piece racing wheels with a flat black finish. Yes they do get dirty from the brake dust and all. I would wash them after they were removed and have them looking like new again.
They are currently in storage and still look like brand new.
