Need Electrical Help Please
2003 C5. Has the 'memory' option, electrically adjustable steering wheel and the sport adjustable seats.
I hopped into the car after I got off work today and the seat was in the full back position and would not move. The elecritcally adjustable steering wheel would not move.
I tried the other buttons on the drivers seat and they work just fine. The passenger seat is fine also.
No warnings. I checked all fuses and no problems.
The only 'different' issue I have had recently is that I became a member of the Flying Roof Club about a month ago and have not received my replacement targa top. The reason I mention this is the screwed-up roof still latches and the car was rained on for a few hours Friday. Now this happens all of a sudden.
The things that make us go Hmmmmmmm.
Anyone have any ideas, suggestions or advice?????

I did some research and found out the B0856 says it cannot see the 5 volt control circuit which has to do with the position signalling for the seat. I tried resetting the code and it came back immediately. So it appears I need to take the connector apart below the seat and clean out the connections since I know I had some rain leakage get into it.
I see there are two connectors down there. One to the front and one to the rear. Anyone care to advise which one I need to take apart first ??

Most of the "moving" components operate on a BCM triggered relay. It's possible that the relay that controls your telescoping motor has gone to heaven.

I'd say you're on the right linesIf you know its been wet, I'd pull both connectors and check for corrosion or dirt. Use some electrical cleaner or WD40 and see if it clears.

However, the telescopic steering wheel switch does not work. Nor does the telescopic deal work shen the driver 'memory' module attempts to realign everything.
I noticed a switch noise like a 'click' that appears to be coming from under the dash and happens every 10 to 20 seconds even with the Key out of the ignition switch. I am betting this is what drained my battery.
I ran the codes and the only think I see is under the traction control system as C1293. I don't see how this would be related but I have been wrong before.
Ideas ?? :o

The blue 7-pin connector at the bottom of the seat connecting to the car, needs to be looked at. It contains the power and position feedback to the SCM for the telescoping steering wheel.

Check the connectors first. Look for ANY, EVEN VERY MINOR CORROSION
That's a pretty common issue on these cars . I had to replace my SCM due to water dripping down right there through my weatherstripping.
Just watch out in the winter time and adjust your windows as necessary. If you're careful, you can get quite a bit of window adjustment out of these cars in just about any direction to stop wind noise/water leaks.
Like the others have said, pull that bad boy apart, blow it out with air and maybe give it a shot of electrical cleaner and let dry.
See if the code goes away.
