My car is lowered and I havent scraped the bumper yet. Just drive really careful. I did get a hold of the front skid bars one time pretty good, but no paint scrapes at least not yet.
IMO I'd go with the wheels (fatmama/daddy/whatever) over the fang things. It's nice because if you come across a speed bump or curb stop or whatever, the nose will just "roll" over it, and not scrape. Sure the fangs can probably take the hit, but you'll still have a horrible scraping sound. Been running my little wheels for about 8 years and they have saved my front end a few times from angled driveways and speed bumps.
Although, if you ran em both, I guess you'd have the best of both worlds!

Hi Dope,
Just wanted to let you know that the Fangs do not make any scraping sounds and I’m sure the Fang owners can vouch for that. In fact if you run up on a parking curb or what ever you can hardly tell, you only see the front of your Vette lift up. Also, with the Fangs if you hit the parking curb at the very front high point of your skid bar you are protected all the way as it slides up on to the curb. You don’t have to slide on the skid bar and wait for it to catch the wheel then roll up. And when you back off the curb the Fangs slide off very smoothly. When you back off with the wheel, it will drop off on to the skid bar then slide on the skid bar off the curb. I’m not putting the wheels down, they have helped a lot of people and a lot of people still like them. I’m just stating the facts because I have friends that use to have the wheel and I have seen them work and have tested the Fangs against them. The Fangs are just something new and in our opinion, an improvement.

Hi AEmedic,
I am sure you are probably exaggerating about the $1. The cost to manufacture anything these days is expensive. The cost of this material we use is not cheap, not to mention the cost of molds, website so people can get info about the product, packaging, labels, shipping, PayPal fees, printer ink, Patent cost, Labor cost, and all the other things that would take to long to put here. Then there is the entire R&D that goes into making a product worthy to sell to a Corvette owner. And a host of other things that have to be paid for just to have a business in Ca. I understand that unless you have ever invented, manufactured and released to the public a product, you wouldn’t understand or know the cost. I wish they only cost $1.

No, I wasn't exaggerating, I was only referring to the physical amount of material. I understand that there are considerable costs to support the process but I was only commenting on the fact that there is about 3 ounces of poly material and the rest is related to cost of production/marketing.

The point is that you are paying for a lot more than just material.
BTW, If you can get us the material for $1, We will buy it from you for $2 and we can both make money!

Hi,
Heres the best way to protect your Skid Plates. This is a new innovative product from SacCityCorvette.
They are called Fangs and give you the best full coverage protection available for the C5 and C6. s
I am looking at a set of the black ones for my C5. Unfortunately, I waited about 5 years before I installed my "rollers" on the front, so my metal extensions got pretty scraped up early on. I am thinking of using these mainly as a "cosmetic" cover-up and then drilling through them and reinstall my rollers... is that a problem?
As far as "prevention" of scrapes when parking, I finally learned the secret for me... the exact solution will be based upon you height and seat position, but when I pull in to a parking space with curbs or blocks, I have a fixed target on my left side view mirror (the lower edge) - I find that as long as my head is in "my" normal position, as long as I don't pull in past that point in the parking space to the left of me, I am always dead on - never scraped since then. The trick is to park the car within about 2" of a curb or barrier (with help if necessary), once the car is in the desired position, sit in the driver's seat with the door closed and find a relationship between a fixed point on the car and the curb/barrier to the left - always works!

Hey great idea on how not to scrape that should work for most places you park often. As far as using them to make your bar look new again... well...... Check out these pictures a customer sent us and you tell me what you think.

Hi Choreo,
Just a note, if you are thinking of putting the wheels back on, the Fangs already have you protected front to back. There is no need for the wheels to be adding side load to the skid plates or losing ground clearance and hindering the performance of the Fangs.

Hi Everyone, Your C5 wants Fangs for Halloween so it can be scary! This sale has ended. Thank you everyone who purchased!
So to help your C5 get its Fangs on by Halloween we will be selling the C5 Fangs Skid Plate protection from now till the end of October C5 Fangs are just
$47.95 along with FREE shipping!(To the lower 48)
For those that may not have heard about the Fangs, here is a little info. The C5 Fangs Made of a High Impact Superior Performance Plastic. The Fangs are extremely impact resistant and 6 times more abrasion resistant than steel and installation only takes a few minutes. Being only 1/8" thick you will not even notice any clearance loss. The Fangs give you complete front to back protection so no matter were you scrape your skid bar you are protected. If you scrape, there is none of that horrible metal noise. If you accidentally bump up on a parking curb you will notice the front of your Vette lifting up as it slides up smoothly and smoothly back down when you reverse. The Fangs are the best skid plate/lower radiator protection available. Here is a link to a couple videos of us abusing a pair of white Fangs. As you will see they can take it!http://www.saccitycorvette.com/See-t...n-Action-.html
That was the first thing that happend to mine within a week af purchase. I was beside myself angry! but at least I got that out of the way early...
I just finally did it. Im upset at myself big time!!! I bought the car about 6 months ago and its a 2002. Its going on 11 years old and it has only 20k miles. It also appears im the first to scrape it! Second owner and it sucks i knew i shouldnt drive fast mad. I flew into a gas station and caught a little of those up risen caps for the tanks... I hope i get over it quick and not to mention my "fangs" are scraped up too... Guess its common, gonna clean it and buff the underside of the bumper this weekend. Lets hope it cleans up a little.
