Default backup switch

I'm new to this list. Have just bought my first vett. It is a 99 c5 six speed. The backup lights won't come on. The garage said it was the trans switch. Bought a new one and installed but still dosn't work. Bypassed switch with jumper wires and lights come on. Tested switch with ohm meter and both new and old switch work when ball on bottom is pushed in. Problem in trans? Thanks Clayt.

Default I had same problem

I changed the trans switch too in my 2001 MN6. You will also have to change out a fuze. I think it is fuze # 21. If you check it will most likely be blown.

Default

the most common mode of failure of those switches causes them to short to ground and it pops the fuse when you shift into R, if you have a new backup switch installed replace the fuse and you should be good to go.

Thanks for the help. Replaced fuse and they are now working. This forum has been very informative.
Clayt.
