Default Driving Help

Hi all. I've owned my 98 for about a month and a half now and I have found that it's quite a hand full to drive without tc. For example I turned onto a highway a couple days ago, as soon as I straightened out I punched it. I started to lose traction when I passed 4000rpm, then when I shifted into second I was all over the road. The car has an intake and exhaust. It also has 295 good year ef1sc in the back. I'm stunned that I can't grip. I never had this problem with my stang LOL. So my question is
How do I go from 1st to 2nd WOT without killing myself?

Thats easy, get used to the car. When I first got it I had the runflats on and they didn't make traction for S*** almost exactly how yours does. If I would power shift it hard into second the car would face the lanes next to me and leave 50 foot strips lol, and it would surprise me. Once you learn the car and know what it will do its much less surprising and doesn't feel nearly as eventful for lack of a better word. Besides sliding around is half the fun with these cars, I just make sure to only do it when NO ONE is near by this way god forbid I do mess up I will only hurt me not someone else. I say leave TC off and enjoy, much to intrusive to drive the car near the limit with it on

Just leave your traction control on. That's what it's there for...

If you must turn it off and you're losing control in a 350 hp car...FEATHER the throttle. It's not the fastest way to just floor it..traction is an issue with the 6 spd and the power these cars have especially with IRS.

Look into either a 1 day performance driving school or get out to an autocross event. You will learn TONS AND TONS your first day at either. Bring a helmet.

Sounds like you need a driver mod.

Use the accelerrator like you're pressing on egg shells, push firm, and not jerky. slamming the pedal down seldom comes to a good end. It takes feel and feedback from the car and from you. this is a powerful car even in it's stock form, the driver must learn to interact with the power.

I keep my traction control on all of the time out on the street.
