Thats cool as hell Chris!!! I knew there was something different with that car, and that it wasnt just the owner.

I cant wait to see what you can find out about the car.... should be some good info!!! Have you searched google for images from pre production C5's?

Nice Find!!!

I ran across one of those 97's a few years ago at a cruise-in. The vanity plate read:
"1 Rare C5"
I asked him about it and he described some unique parts of the car. On his silver C5 coupe, the halo part of the coupe was painted black. I liked it - made it appear from a distance as having a solid piece of glass as a dome. He said GM didn't go with it; too many claiming it looked like the Camaro.

Read the same book.

Pilot cars are the first down the production line and are used to verify the production line and assembly methods as well as the car itself.

This is cool. Usually someone posts without any info backing it up. But you've already called around and did a lot of research and it's just cool to hear about it and how the C5 was developed and the different stages it goes through.
Keep us updated.

So what GM did after the prototype is add bigger fans for cooling and changed the oil pan for a pan that had cooling fins?
Is that correct?

According to the rule book, owners of prototype cars must, upon discovering the fact, pay an additional $10,000 to the dealer or original owner.
If you wish to avoid such "surcharge", I will purchase it at your cost as a courtesy.
Jeff

Well, at least I tried. Congrats and enjoy and KEEP FOREVER
