The dash is actually not very difficult to remove. Anyone with some mechanical knowledge and use the "how to's" on the HUD here on the forum should have no problems. Hope this helps.
Have you thought about doing it yourself? I did mine when I did the retrofit and although time consuming it was pretty simple. There are some great step by step instructions that have been posted.

Thanks for the replies. I have thought about doing it myself, but it just seems so daunting a task. Did you have to remove the steering wheel to get the cluster out?
I agree, I installed HUD into my coupe. Removing the dash was very easy. Cutting the dash was scary. Just takes a little time. Good luck with your repair.

Nope.....just drop her down. Let me see if I can find the install instructions and post for you.

With some decent instructions, I will probably do it myself. I was driving to meet some members of my club for a fun run when I started smelling something electrical. I looked up and saw smoke gently billowing out of my HUD. Uggggh!!!!
Found a post with step-by-steps on HUD installation. Any suggestions on were to purchase a new HUD or should I just get one through my local Chevy dealer?
HUD = Head Up Display (no s)
I assume you only have 1 head on you shoulders & it cannot be seen from the passenger side.
Now You Know and can correct 99 % of everyone else ... or not ...
Well . . .that was helpful
BTW when you assumed he only had one head on "he" shoulders and it cannot be seen from the passengers side....where you assuming his head could not be seen or his HUD?
I can understand the OP's trepidation at pulling the dash, I felt the same way when I started to work on the center console. But after "just doing it" I found you are right, its not rocket science, just go slow and it comes apart and goes back with no problems .

Try doing it yourself. I've got a few files that talk about installing a HUD in the car and they have pretty detailed pics with them. If you'd like a copy, PM me your e-mail address.
