Oil pressure problems
"Have been having issues with an apparent loss of oil pressure on my 2003 Z06.
The story goes, one day went to go for a run out on a Sunday, started car and low oil
pressure warnings lit up the dash.
I run the DIC with the oil pressure showing so pressed
reset and the pressure was showing 0psi.
Turned the engine straight off, recovered composure and tried again - same.
Bought an oil filter and some more "Satans blood" price of it, it should be
Changed filter and oil and hey presto, pressure back again.
Went to Santa Pod for a weekend and back, all OK.
Come next week end and wanna go for another spin ...... 0psi again !!! wtf.
Today, just changed the filter on it's own (one i put in didn't fill me with confidence) and
oil pressure is back.
BUT at anything above normal tickover the pressure rises at what I would say is correct.
At tickover from cold it started at 30psi and held for a short time, then slowly dropped off
down to 20psi and then to 13psi as a minimum I would let it go before giving it a slow rev to raise pressure.
Are these pressures correct ?
Am I being unduly worried ?
Reckon it's the oil pump rather than sender as pressure rises in hand with revs consistently, but seems low on tickover.
Is it a big job for someone to change the pump ?"

My feeling is that mostly the gauge would peg at max or min if it was failing. The fact it's fluctuating at a low pressure at idle makes me think this may actually be a pressure issue. The actual min pressure for the LS1 is 6 psi but that would scare me. Mine operates normally way above that at idle.
I'd get it checked. JMHO
