i'm in the ~400rwhp range on a very conservative tune to keep my 13 year old 130K mile LS1 happy.
the big sellers on the vortech kit for me were the near silent operatation and the ability to keep my vararam CAI. I never undeerstood why FI cars were using open-element filters under the hood when such attention is given to meth injection, and intercooling that could have been reduced by a true cold air intake.

Because the intake is not where the heat gets generated. It's when the air gets compressed that it heats up. More compression (lbs of boost) = more heat. IAT do play a part in it, but cooling the forced air is more important.
Congrats on the install. 400rwhp seems really low. Do you have your dyno chart?

I figured if you start with say 80 degree temps versus 120degree+ underhood temps, boosted temperature would still be less, Plus compressing cooler air means more O2 per unit volume.
that being said, I think it's amusing that with my vararam, I'm essentially driving the worlds sexiest vaccum cleaner.
I have to find the dyno chart. (folded in a pocket somewhere)
