I built a sub box for my Z06, wanted it to use up the extra space between the partition and the cargo compartment....all 3 inches of it. I need to work on the paint a bit more, but right now I'm just glad to have it fabricated and fitting. I have the step by step build if anybody is interested. But it was pretty straight forward with any "fiberglass enclosure" searches on Google. There are two 8" kenwoods in there and the case can actually hold two 10"s comfortably.
This is my first attempt with bondo and fiberglass so please be gentle
Look, I figured out how to add pictures

Reason: photos
Not sure, just finished getting it in. The woofers need break in as well, I should be able to get it thumping by the end of the week. It's mainly MDF so I have high expectations
Looks good for your first try thats for sure. Did you calculate the cubic feet of air requirements for the speaker? It looks real small But pics are deciving. Anyway looks great

The case isn't tuned, but the woofers only require .5 square feet, and I did create a port to the dimensions required by the manufacture. It looks like the box holds more volume than that, so if it's to big I can fill some space with cotton or other filler..... I hope
I use cotton in the back/bottom of all of my enclosures as it seems to help "absorb" some of the notes you don't want to hear.
I hear tell fiberglass has some weird effects with bass notes, I might just have to go down that route. Still waiting on my stereo from Double DIN so only time will tell.
Well, its not perfect but its a good first attempt:
Even with the few small irregularities (that only I can probably see), its 100% better than that big, pointless foam pad (ie: breadbox) GM stuck in there.
It will work for this season. It is, however, a little bit on the heavy side. Its not “heavy” per se, just heavy for what it is.
Next winter I’ll probably yank it back out and make a fiberglass mold off it. Then I can reproduce it in fiberglass to save a little weight and fiberglass is also a bit easier to get smooth and straight as opposed to body fill over the 1/8” aluminum this one is made from.
No, I’m not “reproducing” it. Replicating it in fiberglass is only for my personal use. Not selling the original either, so please don’t ask. I threw up the pictures so others could see how to make their own (if they want to). I have no interest in making them for sale, either as a raw casting or a finished piece.

Great job!
Yes you only need the volume range the subs are rated for - many call for less than a cubic ft. per speaker..
Also concur with adding cotton to the inside of the box...will absorb some of the *loose* note ranges..
