I have had my vette for 3 months and opted to get rid of the Mich Pilots runflats. Uniroyal has put out a new tire that has been recomended to me by my garage. I had ordered the Hankooks and they talked me into this new tire. It is the Tiger Paw® GTZ All Season. I guess they just started selling it July 1st. I was wondering if anyone had any input on this tire as it is so new. Last time I went against a tire recomendation from my garage I regreted it. A set of 4 is the exact same price as the Ventus V-12's. I went for it so I will get back with more info once I put some miles on them. Thanks in advance.
Unless I'm reading the OP wrong, he didn't buy the Hankooks, he bought the Uniroyals.
Personally, I prefer to buy tires that have a solid reputation on Corvettes, as opposed to a new style with no reputation at all and whose salesmen may have been told to "push this new tire on your customers".
I just picked up the vette. Ride is greatly improved from the Pilots. There is NO tire noise anymore. There was an excessive amount with the Mich's.
This garage I use is excellent. Curry's Automotive in Chantilly. If anyone is in N. VA looking for a trustworthy garage please check them out. Last year I had them do some work on my car and left my uniform in it (Navy). Mike from Curry's drove it out to me, about 30 mins out of his way. We then proceded to talk about cars for the next 30 mins.
Dropped the car off yesterday and this morning I got a call saying that they had these tires and the V-12's and unless I was married to the V-12's that he would recommend the Uniroyal's. They were the same price. I am aware that I will lose a little performance but on my ride to work on the interstate and for a little weekend cruising I am not sure that it will make any difference. Now the question is how they will wear?
Overall, extremely happy with the decision. Thanks to all of you who posted.
So I finally broke down and took my car back to Curry's and told them I hated the tires. The Uniroyals are quiet but they are not designed with the stiff sidewalls that vette's require. The car was litterly scary when trying to make high speed direction changes. I pumped the tires to 40 psi just to make them tollerable. After the trip to Carlisle I decided I couldn't take it anymore. Took it back to Curry's and they said that if i was not happy that they would put the Hankooks on it. NO Questions, NO CHARGE! There is no better company to have work on my car! Thanks to Curry's for making this right and thanks to the forum for not hanging me high for not taking the advice of veteran Vette owners.
just got the car back today with the hankooks. Much more solid ride and comfort. should have listened to CF threads in the first place. Curry's charged me nothing to make the switch.

Those Hankooks came in second place among eleven tires that challenged the Michelin PS2s but at much lower prices. They seem to be an excellent choice.
Of course, I must mention that whe someone, even a tire salesperson gives you advice, ask him or her which tires, if any were compared and what vehicle they were used on. Someone whose personal car is a Lexus is not qualified to give me advice on sport car tires. The exception is advice coming from the folks at Tirerack.
Many years ago, quite a few forum members swore that Kumho MXs were the best tires out there, bar none. When I asked more than one Tire Rack salespersons, I was told that by their own track testing, the Goodyear GSD3s were "superior". Sure enough and not too much later, Car & Driver verified Tirerack findings and rated the D3s #1 compared to 10 other popular tires. The Kumho MXs came in dead last. I guess the Corvette guys who recommended them never compared them to the D3s, only to the OEM runflats.
That's why it's always good to consider the source.
