I would think doable......but I'm not familiar enough with the setup to confirm. You may want to consider posting the question over in the Tech/Performance Forum.
They are al LSx engines. You can drop a Z06 LS7 in there if you want. All it takes is money, and time. Having it tuned properly is the key to engine swaps in our cars.
Wouldn't a crate engine come with the correct timing chain and cam already?

If it's an LS3 from GM, then no. The GM stock motors from 2006 + are 58X vs 24X of our earlier LS & LS6 motors.
Our motors use the (3) bolt cam sprocket vs (1) bolt on the LS3. If use the LPE converter you'll have to nothing, but if you want go with the 24X reluctor you'll have swap out the timing gear and cam.
I'm in the midst of working on this now. Going to get the crank reluctor wheel swapped to 24X along with keyway cut to prevent the balancer from spinning once I do a blower.
Going to throw in a ECS blower cam and double chain timing set.
I also need to do the oil pan and pick-up since the motor is out of a Camaro.

Exactly why I said "why?", I should have been more descriptive.

It is very easy for anyone with experience to drop in any LS engine, LS1-LS2-LS3-or LS7 into a C5. We have done every combo several times over at this point. Good luck with your build.
