Default possible oncoming electrical gremlin

I was out for a nice highway ride tonight and all of a sudden the "check gauge" light comes on so I immediately glance over them all and i see my fuel gauge is on empty, mind you i had half a tank and i had just filled up last night. So i knew i wasnt actually out of gas, i checked my fuel button and it said "range" but no number after it, so anyways i let it go and kept driving after about 2 min or so the gas gauge went back to where it should read and the "check gauges" light went out and the range was back. Now the car has 80k and is in great shape ive had it for almost a year no issues at all with the car yet until tonight...is this normal or is it something that is going to get worse and need to be dealt with? Not knowing ur gas is kinda annoying haha..

Fuel Gauge sensor in the fuel tank is messed up. I had the same problem in my car. New sensor fixed my problem.

Many people who have had fuel tank sensor problems have used Techron or Seafoam in the gas tank to clean the sulfur deposits off the sender unit. They advise using Chevron gas to keep the deposits from forming on the sender.

Start with the big bottle of Techron concentrate first I`ve had this happen a few times & the techron always cures it. I add a small bottle every 3rd or 4th tank if I remember.

Let's just say it isn't cheap by any means. Never had it done myself and it is a common problem with some years.

Mine had this for the first time two years ago (02)

The dealer found a service bulletin and "flashed the pcm" I also started using techron and I have not had it happen again.

(The pcm flash was free, even with the car out of warranty)

So im still having some issues with my fuel gauge and DIC fuel reading, i filled my car up to what seemed half a tank earlier, i went out for some ice cream and when i started my car it said i had around 3/4" and 204 mi as the range, after about 15 minutes of easy driving and probably 8 miles of driving it went from 204 mi to 128...so something is wrong and i am slowly losing trust in how accurate my gas gauge is...However it hasnt gone to empty and showed a check gauges light. I did use chevron with techron just one of the regular bottles, should i use more? suggestions?
