There seems to be a lot of threads lately about Techron. I thought the consensus was that fuel additives should generally be avoided unless an extreme condition warranted the use.
Is the use of Techron suggested due to special Corvette conditions? Dual tanks, etc.? I've never used any fuel additive in my 2004 (or any of my other vehicles), and have not noticed any decrease in performance, etc. What are the benefits?

I use Techron in all my vehicles, and, have been using some type (mostly STP) of fuel-injector cleaner, for 20+ years, and have never, ever, had injector problems. I also use Chevron gas whenever available.

I recently started using Techron due to the famous fuel issues with C5.
I'm on my third tank with techron and my fuel issues are gone, for now.
I will use it on every oil change unless the l
fuel problem comes back.

Because of the high sulfur content in gasoline it tends to mess up our fuel senders. Maybe your 2004 is less prone to this happening? I've never used additives in any of my cars, however I just replaced both of my fuel senders in my '99 for dropping to 'E' issue, so I'm hoping by using Techron regularly I could avoid this again...
Techron was first recommended to me in '85. Been using it ever since. Just bought 2 at WallyMart for $5.00 ea 4 days ago. Can't beat that price.
Got home and took the lid off. The seal was bent back open 1/3 of the way. Don't know what's in that one bottle but it's not going in my tank. Next time I'll check em before leaving the store.
BG-44K or Techron once a month and I don't have any issues. My sensors were replaced once under warranty and I also try to only burn Shell prem. gas. No Chevron in NJ
Has anyone tried the Lucas Injector Cleaner/Upper Cylinder Lubricant stuff???

"Now that used cars comprise roughly 85 percent of automobile sales in the U.S., according to the U.S. Department of Transportation, and many gasoline marketers have reduced the concentration level of fuel additive in their gasoline by up to 50 percent since the EPA set a minimum standard in 1995 , according to Top Tier Gasoline, engine intake systems are increasingly susceptible to the buildup of deposits that can gradually deprive them of their power, performance, drivability and fuel efficiency."
"Chevron has design this brand to better combat the buildup of deposits in an engine's intake system, and to remove combustion chamber deposits that naturally accumulate over time."
I have been dropping in a 20oz container of Techron Concentrate into the fuel tank of my '99 Hardtop about every other month... with the hopes of maintaining a trouble free fuel sender... no problems so far.

Be careful with 100 oct.
It will burn your valve.
Been there done that, have pins and hats.
Also 100 oct is not jet fuel It callED AV GAS
Jet fuel is jp4/5 which is nothing more than cheap diesel.
Well,,I drive my car a lot,,rarely sits for more than a day or two!!My gauge sensor gets regular work outs and is bathed in Shell 93 octane!! That said I still throw a bottle of Techron every month or so,,and not a hint of trouble,,and I want to keep it that way!! My guess that the ones less driven may be a bit more prone to problems as the sensor sits in one spot,,not moving for periods of time and the same gas is in there for longer periods. IMO,,drive it regularly,,feed her GOOD gas,,and treat her to a bottle of Techron on a regular basis and most likely you will keep the gauge gremlin at bay!!
at local small airports - we buy it sometimes for our racing dirt bikes, I primarily use it in the winter for ice racing, as it has a type of anti freeze in it so your plane's engine's fuel system dosen't ice up at 30,000 ft... works good when we ice race at -20 and 70mph...
btw - it's av gas, not jet fuel, which is basically kerosene...
I was using additives a while back. Used BG, Lucas and such. I then started to get all kinds of codes. I replaced the plugs, issues went away and never use anything other than Chevron Gas and Torco when I am running the nitrous shot. She hasn't given me issues since.

I generally use two cans of BG-44K in the spring and summer and a bottle of Techron when winter comes and the Corvette goes to bed for the winter.
