In answer to your question, JT there are quality replica duct screen units out there with the exact size and texure frame of the originals with stainless steel screen inserts that make it practically impossible to tell if they are functional when standing directly in front of them. Looking in the wheel wells is another story.

So to clarify my answer I couldn't imagine anyone saying that the duct screens on a Z06 look cheap... they're functional simplicity.

Fake and poser are terms used in a derogatory way in an attempt to persuade you to change your way of thinking. Hey, it's your Vette if you like the look of the tape on screens, the custom duct panel look or if you actually want to obtain the duct work to make them functional is up to you.

In the end the opinion that counts in this matter is your own. Do what makes you happy.

Huurrraaahhh!

Whoa! There is a BIG difference between fake boobies and fake Z06 brake ducts. Let's make sure we keep that straight!

I can have a lot more fun with fake boobies than fake brake ducts!

fake ducts equally no fun.

on the other hand

Consider the fun factor... fake ducts = no fun
Fake boobies = lots a fun

I bought mine and the previous owner or two already had them installed so personally no ones negative outlook on my car means anything to me, other than obviously the opinionator should keep his comment to himself.

I suppose I could opt to remove them and repaint the lower half of the car....but seriously I don't lose any sleep over them.

If you like it do it...it's your car. Never look for someone else to validate the choice cause you are driving it. Besides if someone else is a nerd and wants to qoute rules or specifications, you should be able to handle thenm pretty quick, with a comment on their haircut, polyester jumpsuit, yada, yada, yada.

My advice is if you are going to do it, do it right and put the real ones on the car. The fake ones do look tacky and it's not hard to notice the difference.

I installed them on my car for one simple reason..........I liked the look of the "real" ones.....but wasn't sure if I liked it enough to make it a permanent addition. The "fake" ones were relatively inexpensive and allowed me to see and experience the look they would bring to my car without cutting holes and not being able to change back, .......on a side note...there seems to be more than one supplier...as I have seen some that look like the AutoZone fender grills/vents that drip rice right out of the package and others are same size shape, diminsions and looks "real" until you get up close and notice there is no hole....so if you are undecided.....sure put them on.........if you like, long term...yank them and go with the OEM ones!!!
